Default X300 timing chain tensioner.

Hello chaps, I've got the valve cover off to fix a slight weep of oil from the gasket. Cam's and timing chain all look very good, also gonna clean up that pesky magnisium cover and fit new coils and plugs, my question is, can the timing chain tensioner be dismantled to clean and replace "o" rings, it's the old type and seems to be ok as i don't get any chain noise, just thought while the spanners are out i could have a look at it, ps the car has only done 85000 miles.

It's really up to you, but unless it's making noise on start up, it should be fine.

This would strike me as the perfect situation to apply the old adage " if it ain't broke..."
having pursued the dreaded rattle on startup with the new type of tensioner, without success, leave well alone!
Interestingly, after about 40000 miles, my. New chain and tensioner combination seems to have become quiet on startup. Factory spec oil, but not changed for about 5000 miles. Go figure!!
