Default B1121 DTC

My '01 provided me with a B1121 DTC after displaying: ASC Not Avail, Trac Not Available, and Engine Fail. The car went into limp mode. After a couple of tries, the car returned to normal. The only description that I have found for the B1121 is 'Driver side loop high resistance'. Can someone tell me what that means? Thanks.

If you are reading the ECM the prefix is P for Powertrain Codes. B codes are for Body, C codes are for Chassis.

Page 36 of the DTC guide will answer questions.

Using a jaguar WDS, I read the following:

1. Engine Control Module, B1121, Intermittent

2. Transmission Control Module, P1632, CAN Message implausible, Intermittent

Thoughts?

I often see that 'mis-labeling' of the codes especially at the bottom of the screen in the 'OTHER MODULES' section. Then the DTC states 'no information available'.

The code IS a 'P' code if it is related to the Engine Control Module.

It is throttle related.

I value your input.

For beginners, I have cleaned the following on the Throttle Body

  • Pedal position sensor connector
  • Throttle position sensor connector
  • Throttle body stepper motor connector
  • Throttle body throat
I also checked and cleaned the front two wheel speed sensor connectors, the exciter rings and the air gap between the exciter rings and the sensor.

Now, I will continue to drive it and see what happens.

I suppose if it returns then I will need to have the Throttle Body rebuilt.

Thank you for your help.
