okay the piece inside the seat cushion that the control snaps into is broken in several places from previous owner, so the control for the seat just hangs out. It won't stay snapped in. Is there a replacement part for this or a fix? I'm thinking of getting some long self tapping metal screws and carefully drilling a hole through the plastic on each side of the switch and then drilling into the seat frame. Anyone else have another fix?

 

I just bought complete, PRISTINE Ivory (NED) interior from the salvage yard. Both front seats, back seat, center console, and four door panels,...all for 500 bucks. The donor VDP had 32K on the clock when it was totaled by the insurance, and it was MINT.

Why am I telling you this?

The salvage yard owner who specializes in Jaguars, told me that the only "hot" item from the interior is the center armrest, a little "colder" is the driver's seat, and nobody wants anything else. He quoted me 300 for the driver's seat (which I wanted badly), and for extra 200, he "gave" me everything else. Why did I decide to give him extra 200?

Well,...my door panel pockets were trashed, and my car didn't come with heated seats. he even threw the climate control in (no demand for it, he said!) for the same price, and four MINT center caps for the wheels!

So now my VDP has a "new" interior, and heated seats to boot!

Now,....you didn't say which seat we're talking about (they are selling MINT pass seats for about 100, and trashed drivers for 50). I bet you can find a seat with trashed leather for peanuts, if you call some junkyards around you (start on Craigslist!). Get a trashed seat, take the cushions off, and put your cushions on the donor with intact frame, switches, motors, module, and everything else (any upholstery shop can swap it for you). I am not good in repairing stuff, but I can swap anything (monkey see, monkey do!).

Anyway,.....that's how I would approach this problem.

 

i hated that too...i bought one on ebay...you can change just the guts so you dont have to worry about color

 

i thought about this...looks pretty easy to just take the bottom cushion off and replace it.

 

I'll sell you the switch from my 99 VDP seat. To remove the switches without breaking them, you have to remove part of the cushion so you can release the retaining clips. BTW, mine has the SDZ (cashmere) interior. PM me an offer if interested
