Default ABS Module repair - not as easy as it seems

I was able to remove the ABS module of my 98 VDP without disconnecting any of the break lines. It was quite easy to remove. I did slightly bend the break lines outward so as to remove the module. I attempted to open the module but had a difficult time. I tried the saw and blade method as recommended by other forum posts. I felt like I was just going to damage the plastic housing. My solution is to send it to Module Master in Idaho for a complete servicing. I find the five year guarantee to be very appealing.

if you don't feel comfortable opening it and soldering it that is definitely the way to go...send it off, and once you get it back fixed...you will be good to go

Thanks pdog2000. I sent it off to module master already. I would have liked to solder it myself but just couldn't get past opening the plastic housing. I didn't want to damage the housing any further. I was just happy to have gotten the module out without removing any ABS lines

Default ABS Module

It wasn't so bad I just followed the directions - on previous posts.
after you disconnect the break lines and remove the ABS module.
instead of a hack saw I used a dremel tool to cut the plastic cover. it was an even cut. then soldered the leads. I just used an rtv gasket maker to seal the cover together. hardest thing was thinking of cutting the plastic abs case. but once you start there is no turning back.

I tore off one of the solenoids when removing the module. The solenoid had corroded onto the valve body.

Module Master was the only place I could find that would fix the solenoid.
They did this and resoldered the posts-all for $100, their normal price! I recommend them highly.
No affiliation.

Thats awesome Dan R! It's been almost a month and no warning lights for me. I can't tell you how great it feels to receive great service for a nominal fee.

I also like JagRangers dremel tool idea. Had I used that, I may have actually had a better shot at opening the module.

Thanks to all for the many threads on this repair, I also have a 98 VDP and was able to bend the lines out of the way, the major problem was getting a deep E5 torx socket in to the two bottom screws with the frame in the way, soooooooooooooooo, I went below and removed that plastic tank (2 screws) and took off the 4 nuts holding the entire abs/pump/module unit to the frame.

At that point I was able to get the 2 lower screws out.
