I wish that all the X types were prewired like this. I would love to put heated seats in my X Type. Lol

Paul-Henri

We just had heating elements put into the front driver and passenger seats of 2001 XJ8.

The auto upholstery shop removed both seats from the car and installed the heat elements under the leather seat cushions and seat backs.
Auto upholstery fellow is a real pro and it only took him about an hour and half to complete the whole job.

Forum member dsnyder586 sold me the heating elements for both the front seats and the rear seat.

I purchased the rear extension console from an Ebay listing that had the rear heater switches with it. I also brought the 2 other relays for the rear seat heating.

We will have the rear seat heat installed early next month.

I will post some photos and other information after all the work is completed.

I am looking for seat heater switches that have a low, medium and high selections. I like to put them somewhere either on or near the center console.

I have 2 extra front seat wiring harnesses that Member dsnyder586 sent me that has the yellow and grey connectors.

I probably use them to put the 3 selection switches between the seat heat switches in climate control and the seat heater elements.

Is a relay required for each of the front seats?
I have nearly completed the installation, both front seats and the rear, but am confused as there appears to be a spot for relays on both front seats, and in the rear the right hand panel shows a location, but, there is no socket beneath.
Thanks for your info.
All went well (except for the screw from the dash which did fall into the abyss!!!
Cheers,

Yes, you need to have 1 relay for the driver seat and 1 relay for the front passenger seat.

Here is the wiring diagram for the front seat cushion heaters - note it shows one relay for the driver seat and one for passenger seat.

Hi JIm,
Thanks for the answer.
I am now trying to heat the rear seats but I'm afraid the connection to the heaters may not be there.
The connections from the console extension appear to be different than the switches.

The right hand (white) switch is a bit more visible.

These are the wires in the console. The black ones, I assume, are for the cigar lighter?

Thanks again,
john

You need the harness that goes from the seat heater switches to the 2 relay timers also goes to the white connector (that connects with other white connector in your photo) plus the 2 yellow connectors (that connects to the other yellows connectors on the rear seat cushion heater elements).

Here is the photo of the driver side rear cushion heater element wiring (yellow connector) also the grey connector from the cushion heater element to the back sqab heater element.

Here is a better photo of all the wiring (sean B - photo

Forum member -dsnyder586 - provided the rear heaters harness with the heating elements I purchased from him when he was parting out his 1998 Jaguar XJ.

The part number label (part number LNC3526BE) on the harness from the rear seat heater switches to the relays and heating elements (is also called lead link).

update - here is a photo of the part number label I took this morning (1/15/16):

Looks like there is an ebay listing for 2 wiring harnesses (LNC3526BE & LNF3020AB - that is the main cabin harness). It is hard to tell where the LNC3526BE is in Ebay listing photo since it is a photo that appears messy - cannot tell where one harness starts and ends.

Here is the link to the Ebay listing:

1998 2003 Jaguar XJ8 Interior Cabin Wire Wiring Harness LNE3020AD LNC3526BE | eBay

Here is the actual full link - ignore leading xxx
