Default High pitch whine

At idle from front of engine I am getting a high pitch whine. Goes away if I hit the accelerator but if i let off comes back. Not the fans and changing belt didn't change it. Waterpump? I have no leaks...

Probably one of the tensioners the bearing will go bad.. I have to do the same on mine. Swap out the water pump while in there it's not that expensive of a part to replace ( metal fins )

If the tone changes when turning on the AC it's most likely a tensioner. That s how I found mine. If not listen for specific parts.

Just for another point of view, you might consider taking it to a Jaguar dealership and ask them what's wrong with it -- they might have some pinpoint ideas that will get you on the right track. Of course, when they tell you it'll cost you $5 billion (with a "B"), you can tell them you'll have to think about it.

The will probably charge for the estimate unless they do the work.

I've never had that happen to me -- other than when they read codes they like to charge you! However, even if they charge $100 (est) to check it out, it could be money well-spent.

We don't have a Jaguar dealer near. I'm in the Panhandle of Florida but it doesn't have thst screechy noise like bearings but maybe could be alternator? Ac compressor doesn't make any diff in the noise.

An alternator going bad will make a high pitched whine.

Get one of those automotive stethoscopes and start touching different parts. I use mine all the time and it has always helped me pin-point the noise.

Advance Auto Parts also sells the Automobile Stethoscope - Autocraft Automotive Stethoscope for $9.99. I just ordered one online and apply discount code P20 - 20% off site wide no minimum. Savings $2.00 No shipping - just pickup at local store - from the in store shelf.
