Default Ignition coils

Hi there,

Are the ignition coils interchangeable? Sounds weird but can I use later 2 pin versions on my 2 pin coil cat? Jaguar says that there are two numbers: Either LCA1510AB or XR827823

The only note is to VIN F00034 for the first, and from F00035 for the latter.

Can Imuse the earlier on a later or a later on an earlier car?

Cheers

Damien

IMO, there is a reason they specify such for the VIN's, it can be because of the ECM or the wiring detail or a change in EPROM, it can be a number of things. To err on the side of caution never hurts.
But I also reference such things, so I will simply do a Bing search using the part number and see what prevails. Many times a link will come up showing a thread or threads on sites regarding the item. I also use this site... https://frugalmechanic.com/ ...to see what comes up. As time goes by manufactures may find a common build type that allows for use on both VIN's, but always check before applying (like you are doing now..) and check the date of the post.

There should be no reason why 2 pin to 2 pin cannot be transposed.
The big difference came with the 4 pin coils as used on AJ27 engines.
At least that is how I view it ;o)
