Default Transmission shop in Arizona?

hi everyone, my poor jag is finally having transmission problems does anyone know a reputable shop in AZ that can rebuild my transmission? it currently has 115k miles on it, recently done a fluid change on it.

im trying to weigh my options out.
A)buy used transmission and install it.
B)rebuild current transmission.
C)buy already re-manufactured transmission and install it.
D)buy parts and try to rebuild on own.

since i don't want the transmission going out agian, I ruled out A. I don't have the resources for D. C is too expensive.
So that leaves me with letting a shop rebuild my current transmission unless anyone has a better idea? please let me know. Im located in Surprise, AZ. Ideally I would like to spend no more 3000$ thanks

E. Buy a used, rebuilt transmission with a warranty.

It *should* cost you less than rebuilding your own, as most rebuilders that do quantity are able to charge less based on volume, discounts etc. If you rebuild the one you have the "while we are at it" costs can grow quickly...

I would (and DID) repair it myself. It's not very difficult, and once you have the tranny out that is 75% of the work. Look at some of the posts of folks who did the A-drum repair and I think you may want to do it yourself... If you get the parts in advance, you can do it in a weekend. (1 day to remove, 2 hours to repair MAX, 1 day to put back in.) If you can turn a wrench with some skill, cut all of that time in half.

Total cost?? Less than $300. That would leave you $2,700 for beer.

I edited my post- check out my further reply-

if you want t rebuilt one, just google transmission rebuilders- a shop in Phoenix may be able to ship you one at a reasonable cost, Los Angeles has a few, but shipping may be $$ when you throw in the cost to ship the core.

Thanks dsynder586 for the insight. I'm just worried I won't be able to do it, as I updated the front suspension bushings, shocks, springs, etc. and that kicked my *** so bad I let a shop do the rear for me.

I'm also worried when I first started having transmission problems i ran it hard, kickdown 70+ miles to see what was wrong with the dang car.

Either way lets say I do go the route of doing it myself can someone help me put together what is needed. As most of the information I've found is vague or in words I can't comprehand, ie ZF book manual.

I'm assuming I need these parts for a rebuild

and
ZF5HP24 TRANSMISSION REBUILD KIT + CLUTCH PACK 1996-2004 BMW JAGUAR AUDI VW | eBay

I was told to go to Coventry motors at 12th st and elm, just south of camelback road behind the Chev dealer. The only contact I have had with them has been to check out a potential car that I was looking to purchase and that was a phone call but they seemed very helpful. They said they sell parts.

Well thats been the only place I've gone to get work done on my car so I don't have other experiences with other shops to compare . The only bad experience was when they installed a new water pump. water pump broke several months later. I believe they changed it out free of charge but then it started leaking agian, which they fixed but I do live about an hour away so it was a hassle having to make several trips back and forth (should've been done right the first time??). But I wasn't charged so I was happy, I do believe they give me fair prices as well.

EDIT: how about you? have you been to Conventry motors?

Call them and talk to Bob, it was the best price I could find. I was comparing all prices across the country, ( rebuilds, salvage, ebay). Remove, rebuild, updated A drum, updated valve body, rebuilt torque converter and replace fluids with 2 year warranty. great place. Callahans in Mesa.

No I haven't, I usually do my own work, but I've been working in SC for some time and was wondering where to send SWMBO if she had any problems but 12th St is quite a trek for me too.

I used, and was very happy with 'Highline Transmission' in Mesa, Az.. They rebuilt my XK8 Trans on-time and on-budget. Cost was $2300 with A drum, Torque Converter & Jag fluid. Been on the road now over 6 months with it running like a top!

I used advance transmission in kingman az. because I drove around my small town with the PARKING brake ON!!, a lot was damaged. a year and a half ago my cost was $4,300. since then I roll at 80mph (plus), up and down major mountain pass(-es). the cost and long wait for parts did not phase me.
