Default 246kph in a 3,2

Sorry but I better pretend to be on the defense team.
I loved worked be drove to in Germany.
Even before all roads got to busy to go fast.
To those who only dream about what the top speed of there car is I will explain it this way. There is no such top speed in real life.
One day your car is running like a dream in nice cold weather with a water mist in the air and it runs like a dream.
If at the same time you are heading north east on a German freeway with the westerly wind solid in your back it is so much better.
Top that of with one of the mile long stretches going slightly but not noticible down hill you will fly.
246 km per hour is not a problem to achieve as a max on a stretch.
I believe that in much lesser cars to be true as I did it often.
Going the other direction up the hill and against the wind to get an average is another story.
The sad thing though is with 246 kph you still have to pull into the right lane so the fast cars can pass.
In my book though, he did see that number.

government won't allow me to spell it correctly as only 8 letters may be used on a license plate .

Not like new but a lot better than before
How bad were they before and what materials did you use?

They look almost new now. Interesting that they are marked HELLA.

This is how they looked before.

I was inspired by this post. DIY: Fog Light Sanding/Refinishing with Pics - BMW M5 Forum and M6 Forums , but i did some changes.

I Used grit 120, 180, 240, 400 and 600. Used water with all grits to help with cooling and prevent glass dust. Then I polished with cerium oxide.

It will take a while and power tools is a must. The polishing part alone took about 30-45 minutes as glass is very hard.

Thank you for confirming the effectiveness of that treatment.

Mind you, mine are much worse ... almost like frosted glass ... similar to the pictures of the BMW foglight after the 40 grit.

Magnificent run today with the JDCA to Southern Highlands of NSW. Lunch at a winery called Eling Forest Winery. Great day. My first club run after being a member for 28 years (the club magazin is fantastic).

Took her to UK Wednesday 7th April. Went via Bournemouth, Birmingham, Newton le Willows, Northwich, Leeds, Hull, and back over same route, getting home again yesterday. Just short of 1000 miles,(968) no probs other than o2 sensor prob causing EWL to come on if over 70-75mph, along with code p0174. Magic trip, thoroughly enjoyed it. Will deal with o2 sensor before going again in September

Default Cheap Thrills!

Installed some minor wheel bling.

All the growler inlays were missing from my factory wheel centers, so replaced them with an inexpensive set from Welsh Enterprises/eBay.

My sweetie surprised me with a set of leaper valve caps, so popped those on.

When I got done, I made the mistake of forgetting to close the shop personnel door overnight.
Anyone need a cat .... the four-footed type?
Good cat, very healthy ..... at the moment.

Decided today that the XJ needs a respray. I'm thinking matte black for the body and high gloss black metallic for the chrome parts...

Oh, and Rusty likes to overheat. A short drive will see the temperature gauge go up and up. Heating on and it normalises again...

Default Treated Kitty to Some Loving...

5000 miles since February...so, time to drop the used oil, replace the filter, hit the Hardy-Spicers with some grease to make sure they're all lubed. While had the car up under the lift, checked all the joints, bushings, etc. Used a very fine needle on the grease gun to inject some new lube into the rod ends for the steering and uprights, replaced the air filter, and vacuumed out the interior.

My wrench has a 308 he's pulling apart...and offered me whatever parts off the shell I wanted before he sends the rest off to the breaker. I told him I'd be happy to take whatever of the interior is left (most of it except for the gauges, vents, etc. Front seats are trash, but the console, lid, rear extension, etc are in good shape.

Just what I need...more car parts (along with enough to build 2 more europas...) in my storage bin...

I'd get that fixed before I painted it

Course... Will be doing that before I paint him!

@ Topic

Today I picked up a set of rims... My opinion is: best looking XJ rims EVER MADE! One is damaged but that isn't bad. The price paid is totally okay... The damaged one will be replaced with a good rim. They were in a barn for a darn long time!

I can now get rid of the fugly Celtic rims... What designer thought of them!? He couldn't be right in his head!

Drove it a good bit to get to sport Well, it is actually amazing how much the rear wheels move compared to other cars... Explains why and how it can smoothen out so many bumps in the road...

Brought it to work, and on lunch went to grab a snack. Noticed my door handle suddenly wouldn't work. Ugh, so I popped the cover off, and already noticed the screw cap had been opened before. What did I find behind it? This mess...

Tried to find out why my big kitty (Rusty) is overheating... Diagnosis: Rusty's thermostat has broken:

New one is ordered and will be at my parts dealers place on Saturday. Then the overheating should be history.

Me too... I know the wax or bimetal springst can failure but not the housing or body itself... Luckily it isn't an expensive part... And it also shows that the heater matrix is larger enough to cool the engine as well

I replaced or better fitted the new thermostat to find out... That he stays nice and cold now! 88° instead of 84°C. So a tad warmer and more efficient (around 90° is best for a good economy and good emission results).

All done and fine now. No more problems with the temperature... The fans don't even come on anymore and yes, I checked the fuses!

Unless you have one of our own JagWrangler's "Real Gauge" kits installed, your temp gauge will read right in the middle like that until it is close to overheating and cooking your aluminum engine.

Search for "RealGauge" and you will see that our temp gauge is just a fancy idiot light.
