Good luck trying to find an XJR15 for sale though. I think the last one I saw was about two years ago on Dupont Registry. Interestingly enough the price was about the same as the XJ220s at about $200K USD. At the time the XJR15s were offered to those customers who didn't get to buy an XJ220. This ticked off some of the early XJ220 owners since they wanted a V12. I have seen one or two wealthy Jaguar collectors who have one of each (lucky devils).

I have heard anywhere from 13 to 32 in the US. Only know of 7 or so personally.

Jaguar Works service in Coventry UK.Ask for Paul Wadely. They still do Servicing and a few of us still use them.I know of a US car receiving an engine rebuild there at the moment.E mail me if number needed.

The car was never intended of the USA market so, as far as I know, none of the USA dealers rec'd training, tools, tech support, etc to service/repair them. Some of the dealers techs on this board can chime in on that, though.

There's a fellow in the UK, Don Law, who specializes in the XJ220. I think he has acccess to, or possibly legal ownership of, the factory tools, tech data, parts inventory, etc.

Right now I am waiting on information and software from Zytec to diagnose an engine management/running problem. I hope they can help but I reckon they washed their hands of the XJ220 ages ago.

A clutch failure on the same car was repaired by having a new hydraulic hose made up locally. That was easy... but I worry about getting it running right and future repairs.

I'll know more in the upcoming weeks, hopefully.

Cheers
DD
Zytec have changed hands I think.
I managed to get an interface box and cables from the guy who designed the electrical system on the car at TWR.Havnt had a go yet but need a very old laptop to run the software in DOS.

What is the average price at auction for a really nice one?

I know Golz motors in Deerfield works on Ferraris. Don't know if they'd touch something this exotic though. Otherwise there is a Jaguar exclusive repair shop on highway 41 just north of 22 I believe. Those two places are probably your best bet short of sending it to England for repairs. Did you and and dad buy one yet?

1993 Jaguar XJ220 S Serial Number 220779 - main page
I wonder if that is the factory color or someone painted it?

The XJR-15 was produced from 1990-1992. The XJ220 from 92-94. They for the most part were never sold concurrently. An XJ220 is still a faster car:

1990 Jaguar XJR-15:

450 HP

0-60 in 3.9 secs

top speed 191 mph

1992 XJ220 specs:

542 HP

0-60 3.6 secs

Top speed 217 mph

This is a "regular" XJ220 head to head with the 15. A 680 hp XJ220s would completely blow the doors off a 15.

This car was like original Bugatti Veyron. Delivering hyper-car performance but still comfortable enough to drive to the office everyday if you wanted to. It has a passenger seat and A/C.

You should be really excited I know that I would be - the xj220 is an amazing car with a confused past. It received bad press because of the V6 - and I can understand why, it was supposed to have a 12. All that being said the V6 still puts out around 600 hp and weighs less. It's still screaming fast by todays standards. Listen to the newest Leno's Garage... He gives the xj220 great reviews. You're going to love it and have an awesome car that will continue to go up in price.

Default Wish I'd bought this in 2011

"Could have, should have, would have". As I just paid north of $500,000 USD for a 220, and it needs total recommissioning for another $80-90K, what a steal back in 2011. I hope that young man and his dad bought one back then! Wish I'd had the foresight, but as another member wrote, no one was talking about these cars back then. I was going to many concours events at the time, and never even saw an xj220. No one mentioned them in "car guy" conversations. Even now most of my car buddies know almost nothing about them. But they certainly turned out to be an investment car, and who knows how far they can go. I bought mine to drive and track, but if it doubled in price in a few years I certainly wouldn't complain.

And there are new tires again, Bridgestone AND Pirelli, and there may even be renewed support from Zytek, so these cars can be driven again. Plus, the 25 year rule makes it so much easier to import them (except to CA). I personally have seen 6 xj220s at a dealer near me, and 6 xjr-15s at Lime Rock Park on a Driver's Club day a few weeks ago. And more are coming to the US every month. Hopefully the whole mess that Jaguar created with its 12 cylinder awd to 6 cylinder rwd has been forgotten, and the cars are being evaluated on their own merits. Jay Leno and Doug DeMuro love them and more than one professional driver has said it is the best car he has ever driven.

McLaren planned on producing and selling 250-300 F1s back in the day, and struggled to sell about 87. I remember when an F1 was $300,000, and it wasn't that long ago. No one wanted them. Now everyone wants one and they are $15-20M apiece. Who knows what the future holds?

Sounds like you might have overpaid since this one just sold at Monterey for $415 with buyers premium.

and this one:

Did you buy at an auction?

The market in the $500k and above range has been softening, and the XJ220's could drop more.

This is one of 3 GT cars built by TWR for the 1993 Italian GT. Has TWR chassis plate XJ220-N chassis 003. The Martini car is one of the 2 others. Been collecting exotics for 30 years, I'm, not that stupid. And actually the market for any xj220 in the NY area is now at $600-700k asking price. For a 1 of 3 car? Who knows? It's rarer than the 6 S cars they built, and it's road legal.

Good luck to those dealers asking 600-700K. Lots of dealers always have crazy asking prices that mean nothing, but you should know that since you're not stupid.

I just saw one of these recently at the Peterson Museum. What a car! It was sitting next to a Bugatti EB 110 but my eyes were fixed on the Jag.

agree woulda ,coulda, shoulda ,, back late 90s an XJ220 was up for sale in New mexico, it was one left over from the Past Masters races , perfect condition!

FOR askin price of TAHDAH , $85,000, USD, hindsite is useless!

BOY does reality change as time goes by!

another way of lookin at it is "its just an old JAG", luckily money is just an agreement of PAPER!

I recently saw a picture of a mid-70's newspaper ad for a Ferrari 250GTO for $8,500. The writer (IIRC it was Bruce Meyer who founded the Petersen Museum in LA) had just spent about $11,000 for a 250SWB, and didn't want a straight up trade because he'd be down around $2500, so he didn't do it. Back then even GTOs were just tired 12-14 year old race cars which were not comfortable for street driving. Who could have known?

I believe the drivers in the FastMasters series were given the opportunity to buy their cars for a very low price. Might be because Jaguar didn't want to shlep them back to the UK where they would sit unsold, or because virtually all the initial drivers either quit or threatened to quit after 2 races due to the huge amount of accidents, so they got an extra bonus if they stayed.
