Climate Panel All Red & One Speed Fan
I realize that there are other threads about the climate panel. I also realize that there is a prescribed fix for the climate panel itself when it goes bad. However, I am beginning to wonder if the problem might be something else. Here's what's going on:
1. The driver's side fan is the only one working.
2. The passenger side fan is blocked off.
3. The climate panel has been replaced with eBay used or rebuilt units.
4. No matter what unit I put in, the same thing happens.
5. As soon as the fan speed knob is turned, all the lights turn red.
6. No matter what speed is selected, it is always on full speed.
7. The fan only blows to the floor.
8. The air is only cold.
I am wondering if this sounds familiar to any of you. One of you mentioned that the climate computer itself can go bad. Does this sound like that might be the problem? I'm willing to purchase a used climate computer but don't want to just throw money at it. Any ideas?

The heater flaps sound like they're jammed, preventing the air from running through the heater matrix so you only get cold air. The flaps also control distribution so you should get some air through the screen vents if they are operating properly.
Before buying more parts, I'd have a look at the passenger side fusebox and check to see if you've got power from there to the passenger fan - the brown wire is fan power (on a '94 anyway - might be the same on your '90) - unplug the fan connector and probe the brown - it should show 12v even with the ignition off. If no power, there is a problem at the fusebox or in the brown wire itself.
I don't know about the controls lighting up "all red" as I have a different layout on my '94 but I'd try to get the passenger side blowing first (even if only on high for now) before tackling any of the other stuff.
Don't know about the climate ECU, didn't have to to deal with that when I restored my climate control system.
Anyway, good luck with it and let us know how you get on, ok?

My take, and I could be wrong because I am having the same issue with a 93 XJ6, 2 climate control units, all lit up.
You need to go through the entire wiring diagram before you start buying this and that.
I believe Larry has some great posts on this from 2012 somewhere in here.
I'm doing the same thing so you're not alone.
