Default Oil in the Spark Plug Wells

Wanted to see the condition of the spark plugs. Found two of the six had oil in the wells.

From little that I could find its either head gasket or the Spark plug o-rings.

How do I find out which one?

I see head gasket kits for about 150 to 210 dollars on ebay.
Any leads where I can go besides ebay.

Do the gasket kits come with the necessary o-rings.

Thanks in advance.

The spark plug wells on the cam cover are sealed at the bottom with rubber rings.

When they leak, oil can come up in the spark plugs wells. Usual remedy is to buy a cam cover gasket kit which comes with 6 new seals.

Nothing to do with head gasket, so you don't have to worry!

here's one on ebay

Yea its most likely just the seals around the spark plugs. Most common oil leak on the AJ6 and AJ16 engines, along with the actual cam cover leak in the back.

I have only seen 2 actually leak oil from the head gasket, but both were X300, this is out of 15 years of working on Jags in 2 different markets.

There is a company called Welsh Enterprises that sells Jaguar parts. They are based out of Ohio. They sell genuine parts.

Thanks from me as well. Not an XJ40 owner. Merely, a lumped 83 XJ6!

My interest is the relationship of the issue to that of my daughter's 2001 VW Passat.
Resting in my drive, whilst she drives my old 94 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo.

The VW leaks oil amongst other ills. Similar spark plug location. The cam cover set I just got includes gaskets for the plug wells. We will se...

Thanks
