HELP : Autotechnica steering wheel Boss #344
Hello all,
I am looking at fitting an aftermarket wheel to my XJC, Autotechnica make a boss that is 85mm tall, but I can't find out if the spline in the boss kit is at the bottom of the boss or partway up the boss towards where the steering wheel mounts.
If the splines are at the bottom of the boss then my steering wheel will sit out another 85mm towards me and that just doesn't feel right.
Is there a bolt on aftermarket wheel with a spline or a slim adaptor from 6 0r 9 bolt wheels to the spline?
Cheers

all bosses should have the same amount of splined length, and that length will always be approximately the length of the "hub" section, usually between 2 and 3 inches.
if the boss was made to fit a Jaguar, the manufacturer will have taken into consideration the length of the "hub" of the original steering wheel.
try Moss Motors in Goleta California, they have a selection of very nice aftermarket steering wheels called "Tourist Trophy". Made in China but excellent quality. They have thick or thin grip, 15" or 16" diameters, and wood or leather.
I installed a thick grip, black leather, 15" diameter Tourist Trophy in my 1965 S type to get rid of the 17" "school bus size" original steering wheel. Moss Motors also sells the boss kit and horn-push kit.
