I've a jaguar xj6 4.2 1979, how can I remove the speakers???
and where is the light switch of light in the trunk???

Hinge switch is at the top & back of the trunk near one of the hinges. A plate on the hinge presses onto the switch as it closes.
Where are your speakers, on the back panel behind the rear screen, or in the doors ?

 

to remove the speakers. you need to remove the door Panels first, also known as "Door Cards" in Inglaterra. "Panel de Tapiceria" if you can understand Español. No parlo Italiano paisano.

The trunk or "baúl" switch is on the passenger side Hinge as explained by Fraser.

I remember now the speakers in the doors of my XJ Series 3, your's will be similar. The interior door trim panel must be removed. The pull handle needs to come off first, there is a screw behind the chrome trim, plus one or two at the bottom rear of the handle. Then the little bins or pockets need come off, it you have them. You should find some black-headed screws holding them on. Then the trim panel can be pulled off its clips starting at the bottom edge. The panel fits under the top trim piece by the window that is separate. That is as I remember it, there may be a couple of other things to be detached. I don't think the door latch has to be undone, the trim panel lies on top of it. The speakers are secured to the door frame and "poke through" a hole in the trim panel. They are very easy to remove once the trim panel is off.

 

Thanks, yes my problem was how to remove the panel, but now I think I'll do it faster!!!

 

If your door handles are anything like on my 1986 series 3, you're in for a bit of careful hammering. To get at the three screws (red arrows in photo) you need to slide the top half of the door handle off.

FIRST, remove the chrome screw (yellow arrow in photo) then push or hammer the top half of the door handle rearward (to the left in the photo) to release the top half from the bottom half.

Next, remove the puddle light by taking out the obvious screw and carefully sliding the lens out (same direction you slid the door handle). This will expose two more screws holding the door panel on.

Then remove the rest of the door handle screws (red arrows).

 

Is your car Series 2 or Series 3?

 

is series 2, so I think is different from these photos.

 

If it's a Series 2 than I think my post is closer to what you have, as my Series 3 was a 1980, so very close in trim to the Series 2 cars. If you could post a photo of the door trim it would help.

No no, it is all original manual !!

I have not driven a stick shift in decades. I am not sure I can. But, kinda like bicycle riding, it would come back.


Before I check in, I'd like to try it again.


I did manage a decade or so ago on my daughter's then ranger pickup and my sons Jeep Cherokee. Each a four banger.


Wow, I forgot the "Hot rod of the forties" project I did before the Jaguar. Warmed over V8 in a A Chassis with a T roadster body. Three on the floor. Grabby clutch and sticky synchros. An absolute ball. All Ford !!!

Here most of the cars are manual, and i think is better cause you can feel the engine!!

 

Just to let you know that your door panel trim is identical to those I had on my Series 3. So....

If you go to the top of the door pull handle, you'll see a little chrome piece. That covers the securing screw and tidies the handle trim too. Jaguar cars are full of these little touches, based as they are on traditional coach trimming techniques. (no, it wasn't quite dead in the 80s !!). Below the handle you'll find more screws. Undo these.

Then, under the door pocket, you'll find three more screws. Undo these. You should now have a plain door trim panel in front of you. Insert a table knife between the trim panel and the door frame pressing at the bottom, and gently pull outwards on the knife handle to release the door from the clips. Work up each side to the top trim piece and the panel should now come away. The door latch stays in place, so gently pull the trim panel away and down to release its top edge from the trim piece by the window.
