1992 XJS Hood Cable
Seems like things happen in groups!
My problem is that the hood does not close equally on both sides, there is about 1/2" gap on one side after lever is put in closed position while the other side closes securely.
A friend who looked at it suggests the cable probably has stretched and needs to be tightened. Before I do this, any tips on how to proceed or whether there might be something else causing this problem? Sure don't want to break it!
Thanks!

As far as I can recall it's just a matter of undoing the wire clamp and pulling the wire through with a pair of pliers to take up the slack.
You may have to have a couple of goes at it to get it right but just make sure that you retighten the clamp before you shut the bonnet (hood) every time you adjust it otherwise you will end up in the poo!
