1995 xjs
I am trying to figure a good price on my car. It's a mint condition 95 xjs convertible with the 6 cylinder engine. Light blue with white leather interior. 24000 miles on it. Perfectly maintained. Not a scratch on it. No rust. Engine is clean. Just trying to get some advice on what you guys think the value is. Thinking about Making some room in my garage. Thanks

i would think you should get a premium for that car, one thing i do to try to gauge value on somthing is go on e-bay and search completed listings and try to find simular examples and see what they sold for. its worth whatever someone else is willing to pay for it i would think based on description 10k+ might not be out of the question.

the mileage is retarded, the car is practically unused, which is pretty sad.
I've seen cars like this around 20k on ebay, but they stay there for a long time. Id guess 15-18k with the mileage being the biggest selling point, it would probably take a while though.
on the other hand 12-14k would move a lot better I would think.
Haven't looked in a while but that would be my personal guess.

That is certainly above 10k. The paint sort of hurts it IMO but the 6 cylinder can be here or there, as it makes plenty of power and doesn't scare off as many, but you do lose potential V12 buyers.

I believe that the value is somewhere just under $15k. Please keep us posted when you do sell it, if you are comfortable with giving out that info.
I know there was a thread not long ago with someone being convinced this car was worth somewhere in the mid-20's, but there's very little history to support that there are many buyers at that price.

quick check on ebay. BUY IT NOW cars don't give much indication of what cars are sold for because they don't appear if they have been purchased, I usually try to look at cars nearly done at auction because that price will be more accurate.
However eBay does have "watchers" and there are 2 similar cars to yours on there at the moment.
Both facelift convertible 4.0s, one has 17k miles and is going for $20k with 26 people watcing it and the other has 64k miles with a price of $14k with 50 people watching it.
that at least give some indication of interest.
Another close one was a 1990 convertible with 28k miles with a price of $15,500 on autotrader classic

Well mine I think looks nicer than most all others I've seen listed and sold and is all original. That along with only 24,000 miles. I think somewhere between 15000 and 20000 should be reasonable. It really drives like new. Just need to figure out some places to list it to find the right buyer. Will put it in the classifieds on this forum.

Selling a car in General:
List it everywhere. Example: my dad's boss had a last year Caddy El Dorado convertible ('76?) back in the day that he wanted to sell. Was advertising it in the local paper (Little Rock Ark) with no luck. Dad (in marketing) told him to advertise in the Dallas Morning News classifieds. He did and the next day got a call from someone in LITTLE ROCK that bought the car.
So: This forums classifieds, craigslist in every major market (LA, SanFran, LV, Pheonix, Dallas and any other location with over a million population), AutoTrader.com, any other Jaguar forum (please don't ban me mods ), and if you are going to pay for an ad might as well do Hemming's (you have a Hemming's worthy car in my opinion).
Take lots of photo's in "idealic" settings (golf coarse, park, executive office building, empty well lit parking tower, under neon lighting, etc) and put up a photobucket or flicker or some other site. Make a slide show and put it on YouTube (just search "jaguar for sale" on YouTube to see what I mean).
I hope this is of some use - Good Luck.

Advertise your car for $20,000.00 and don't negotiate down to anything less than $17,500.00. Advertise anywhere and don't be in a hurry to sell it. IMO late XJSs are being sold to get that quick sale for less than their true value. BTW, I have one just like yours and it has proven to be the most reliable, durable and trouble free car I have ever owned.
My car had a little over 34,000 miles on it when I bought it and it now has 103,680.
