At the back of the Air Filter housing on the 4.0L XJS where it has a flange that goes over the matching front flange on the throttle body is there supposed to be a gasket or O-ring of somekind in there? While changing the air filter on our new 1996 model I noticed it's just metal meeting metal with no kind of gasket or o-ring on ours, it looks like maybe some kind of round rubber fitted gasket or thick o-ring would be in there to me ... ?


If there is supposed to be something in there does anyone have a part number and/or source for a replacement?

Mine is missing. I actually put an O-Ring on it just to fill the space and seal it a bit until I found out for sure, glad I did.

Did a search for the part # listed in that diagram and got one off eBay new for $4.73 with free shipping. The one I put in looks similar but with the actual part I can see for sure and have spares in the future.


Glad you knew, I did a dozen web-searches for "XJS 4.0 Air Cleaner O-Ring", "XJS 4.0 Air Cleaner + Throttle Body Gasket", etc, etc. in every variation I could think of and not a one ever came up.
