Default 1994 Jaguar XJS 4.0 V6 Goop on spark plugs

Hi. I'm Becky. Due to the rotten economy, we're broke. We have a 1994 Jaguar convertible XJS 4.0 liter, V6 with Sport option. It is our only somewhat functioning automobile. Fortunately, I have been mechanically included since childhood. I'm hoping for some information that will enable me to fix my own car.

I just changed the spark plugs. The two spark plugs nearest the windsheld were covered with a goopy substance than appeared similar to baby puke. Additionally there was oil on the tips of these two plugs. Obviously this is an indication of a problem, but I don't know what problem.

Second, I added antifreeze to the radiator two weeks ago. The radiator immediately became a problem. iIt immediately began overheating to seriously ovedrheated each time we drove it. All the water leaked out of the radiator each time, though we had no problems before I added the antifreeze. After reading as many bad comments as good abour Bar Leak for the radiator, we put some type ofnanotechnology leak sealer in the radiator. It has impoved the situation, but we still have a problem with water leaking out.

Along with suggestions on how to repair my car, it would be helpful to have an engine diagram with parts labled. Thank you in advance for any help!!

I've attached a photo of the AJ16. Hope this helps.

As for the oil/goop, I,m assuming that the gaskets have failed. It's really a very simple fix. I recommend replacing the six plug gaskets as well as the gasket for the entire camcover.

As for the radiator, I really don't recommend adding any of the Barrs Leaks kind of products ever. It would be difficult to diagnose, but I would start by making sure the radiator cap still works properly. Its engineered to maintain a pressurized cooling system. If it's failing, it could be doing what you're describing.

Good luck.
