96 XJS Misfire-
Hello
It fires but runs really rough. Seems to smooth out at higher RPM's, but I don't think miss ever goes away... Check engine on then when driving flashes. Any ideas?
Is it safe to drive, will it eventually smooth back out?
Little background. Car garaged winters. Miles 230000. few years ago, forced to drive few months around Christmas. Cold Ohio winter. Started running really rough last weekend it was needed. put away and sit for 1.5 years. Pulled out of garage this Spring with this problem.
Thanks, Matthew

Since the check engine light is coming on there should be trouble codes stored in the onboard dignostic system. Have the codes pulled and go from there. Or get a scan tool/code reader and DIY.
Generally a flashing check engine light (versus one that comes on but doesn't flash) suggests a more serious problem so I wouldn't drive the car. The system is thinking the misfire is bad enough to hurt the catalytic converters
