realistic price for 1995 XJS 4.0 ??
What would be a realistic price range for a 1995 XJS with the 4.0 six in good to excellent condition (for its age, that is) being sold by a used car lot?
Mileage is 65k miles.
No special options, but clean. No full history.
And ... how does it compare in acceleration with a X308 XJR?
The attraction is that bulletproof 6 and fewer computers. How many systems are dependent on a computer module?

I have a standing search on Autotrader for 94-97 XJS (any engine...but most hits are 4.0L) withing 500 mi. of DFW area, and it currently shows listings for 11:
Range of prices within this search:
Highest Price:$20,900
Lowest Price:$8,000
Average Price:$12,858
Pretty wide spread, though they seem to generally be "worth" more than a comparable mileage/age X300 sedan (though I can't imagine why?!?)
Don't know if this helps, but that's what I find in the markeplace...
FWIW, I looked at/drove one (a 95 w/4.0L) shortly after buying my X300 and it literally felt like a 2-ton truck in comparison! The steering and brakes were heavy, the car just felt sluggish overall. It could have just been a bad one....had heard/read that they are sweet-driving cars...always liked the look.....

Thanks for the reply. The asking made sense, until I remembered that there was a nice looking 1995 XJR that sat around for months at $4995 without takers.
Too bad the XJS never came with the supercharged 6 from the XJR.
It's a nice looking car and not nearly as complicated in the electrical department as compared to later cars.
