Default Can't turn over rear end

My rear end is seize up, I believe it is just the rear brakes stuck to the pads. The car has been in my garage for 2 years. I tried to use a breaker bar on a lug nut with it jacked up. But I didn't want to break anything so i quit. Took me forever today just to get the rear wheels off. I need to turn over the rear so i can remove the driveshaft. I am shortining the driveshaft for my 6.0 v12 w/ 4l80e trans conversion. Any suggestions? The next thing i think i might do is just remove the brake pads.

Thanks in advance!

Absolutely no movement? Because it could be the rubber line is broken down on the inside and caused a pressure lock. I've seen this happen on the front brakes of late model fords.

On the driveshaft I get a little bit of movement going into the diff, but at the wheels they won't budge at all. They moved 2 years ago when I rolled the car into my garage. I will update tomorrow as I am done working on the car today. Before that the car sat in another garage since 2003 due to its overheated motor.

I am thinking park brake pads have rusted and jammed to the rotors.

That is if the car had the park brake applied for 2 years. Makes sense more so than the main pads.

I had one caliper seized, and had the same problem. But I could drive the car. But it overheated the pads so bad smoke started coming out after a few hundred yards.

have you taken off the ' hand brake ' or parking brake as you may call it

as the handle is an auto collapsing handle, and needs pulling up to release the brake

just a thought

@Brake buster

You figured it out, I feel like a complete idiot. I thought I had released it but I didn't press hard enough on the parking brake release button. Well in the meantime I have determined my rear brake calipers are not road worthy. One of the rubber boot seals has completed dry rotted to crumbles.

Thanks again for pointing out what should have been the obvious.
