Starter whine is sexy. Nothing else in the world sounds quite like a Jaguar V12 spinning up. Some of the modern front engine V12 Ferraris are not far off, though... something about how fast the starter has to spin I think... in any case, wonderful acoustic treat.

I agree, but the starter motor R&R in RHD is a MONGREL, so the less work it has to do the better.
If you must, simply fit a toggle switch into ONE if the wire at the Inertia switch, then flick it OFF, do your thing, and flick it ON whilst doing your thing, and away goes the fuel pump, and eventually the beast will burst into life.

mine cranks about 3-5seconds before fire up, so you hear the starter sound of 12cylinders.
best complement i ever had was at a car show, a woman was standing by the, when i started, she said it sounds like a P-51 airplane when cranking! couple sputters then roars into life.
all is good,, my engine is a modified V12 so starting is not as quick as factory,(no return line residual fuel pressure valve).

pic of my James Bond consul switches, key switch is a master for all of them.
1st on left is fuel pumps activate on.
2nd is computor activate on
3rd is ignition activate on
4th is fans & vacuum pump on
5th is a master for the full panel of switches.
button in center is for starter solenoid on
Knob is for rich or lean while driving ,along with an Air/fuel ratio gage!
works great and i can turn any on or off at will, been 20yrs since installed.
YES i probably was a little ahead of the curve, they didnt have any useful jag internet back then!

diam, the switchs give the ability to diagnose problems(if they occur), seperatly!
like checking fuel pressure, without all the other systems on.
or testing ignition without fuel on, just starter cranking,ETC.
test fans etc. or any other electrical components, one at a time!
my car is about exclusivity, anyone can buy a standard ordinary car(factory stock, just takes money) but mine is a custom build to suit my own ideas, and no one i know has one like it, to duplicate my car, having some shop do it, would coast easy $50,000.-75K.

I get your point. Just I am limited due to laws and regulations here. A little "change" in the electrical system with nothing visible would be no problem, but if I all of a sudden change systems, circuits and co, I'll be getting troubles first of all getting the car registered properly and secondly, in 5 years time, when she has her 30th birthday, I won't get the historic number plates... Meaning she'll be an unaffordable car... For ever...
