Daim, Would you mind sharing the details of the supplies you ordered such as the vendors, part numbers, and lengths? I am about to undertaking the same project on a 6L v12 and am having trouble finding anywhere that will let me purchase wire in reasonable lengths.

Whoa!!!- If you're serious, I'd love to tap into your experience in sourcing the parts and the knowledge, and have you make up a harness for me.
I have an '89 5.3 with Marelli system. You can respond through the forum, or by direct e-mail ghiltz01@hotmail.com - I can either do bank e-transfer or paypal, or international bank check to you.

Any idea on price you'll be wanting?

Thanks,
-Greg

Yes, that was meant seriously!

I also have the Marelli Ignition, so that would be simple

I'll be seeing how long I need. Shouldn't be that long... I guess around the weekend or latest weekend after and I'll have it all ready (at least mine first to get started).

Whilst I'm at it, I was considering to either split the harness into two, bank A and bank B or leave in one... Not sure yet.

Daim, If the price is fair I too would be interested in purchasing one from you. I have a Marelli ignition only on a '95 6L v12.

Well, I can't say yet how long it would take me to make one. That is probably the biggest factor. Including material and time (going by say 3 hours to make one correctly) I'd probably be looking at around €180 (the correct plugs with no wires etc. cost a few bob) so that'd probably be around $250... Depending on how much time I really need. Probably a lot less Realistically more around the $200 range.

Around 200 seems reasonable to me.

Yeah, that is what I think... I can't get hold of the original harness plug to connect with the car so will be going the Super Seal way to make sure that it all works properly and long. Just as a side note...

macudc,
I'm not trying to ruin any business but, the harness from the 5.3 will be different from the one in our 6.0's. I don't know much more than that. The drawing that japthug posted looks completely different from what I've got in my car.
Just a heads up.

Bill

Hmm, I doubt the plug assemblies will differ. The same goes for the injector sequence (12 individual injector sequences would probably make the ECU boil...). Propbably just the routing is a tad different emtering from the rear rather than the front...

Hi there!

As I'm currently "on to this", I'm trying to figure out which method would be best.

I can't get hold of the original plugs from Jaguar, so I'll be using 2 AMP super seals with each 4 sockets. Now, what way would you wire them:

1. one plug per cylinder bank (bank A as male, bank B as female)
2. one plug for the signals, one plug for the "earth"
3. other

I'm leaning towards 1. as it could also help in situations like when the engine is missfiring and you need to get home or so (kind of "limp home").

What would you do?

They are the same plugs as used on the ignition coils on the Magnetti Marelli ignition system...

-> http://www.oldtimerbedarf.de/bilder/...et-4-polig.jpg

They were used in certain areas of the car so they can be classed as "original". As they are weather and water proof, they are probably the best you can get for the connector area on the car...

Would anyone have the part number or a source for the 2 AMP Superseals that are used on the Ignition Coils as pictured by Daim?

Just check ebay by "AMP superseal" and you will get several results.

This might be useful. Parts list from my earlier post. Del City order.

I can't send a pic of the harness as it is already installed. The original harness is like supercharged said, it has way more wire than necessary and is overly complicated. I ended up using 6 wires and 5 colors and putting it all in 3/8" loom.

My Del City parts list consisted of:

16 injector solenoid connectors #73522 $1.31 ea. ( i always buy a spare or two)

100' of hi temp split loom #774 $18.92 I'm not sure the high temp is necessary, this is 100' minimum, you can get split loom at Fryes, O'Reillys etc.

100' each of 16ga. GXL cross link wire at $11.78 a spool. 100' is minimum order.

Blue 4116103
Yellow 4116106
Green 4116104
Black 4116105
Red 4116101
White 4116102
Brown 4116107

I ordered all 7 colors just because that's how many they had and it doesn't hurt to have extra wire around. I used about 6' of each color.

I also used the 5 way trailer light plug from NAPA, very compact, sturdy and weather proof.

Default Wire length

Does anyone know how much wire is actually used in this project, vs the minimum order length? I'm jJust trying to figure how much I actually need.

Thanks
