Default weight reduction 13b swap

so in order to shed another 100lbs or so i plan on converting my L67 powered XJS to 13b power from an FD RX7.
i dont really have a question. i just thought it would make for good entertainment.

side note:
the current engine has wiped out two automatics, one manual and two different flywheels in about 1,000 miles worth of driving. its not fast enough for that sort of downtime.

I love the rotary engines but I would be concerned that they do not make enough torque to push such a heavy car as the XJS. What are your thoughts?

On the other side, they just love to rev and are very smooth and as you said, much lighter. You might have to put some lighter springs in the front end.

well the FD RX7 only weighs about 300lbs fewer than my XJS as it currently sits, being that my car is fully stripped. and ive driven a modestly modified FD with a 300lb man in the passenger seat. lol

some thing like this pix.
its all about gearing and tuning, but an unusual idea! my 3rd gen. engine made 420WHP on 104LL avgas, 500WHP on with water.meth injection. FB weighed in at 2770lbs, no driver!

you might consider it fast!

i'm still trying to find an AUDI V12 twin turbo DIESEL!

all torque engine,750lbs.ft. at 2500rpm, and it would require different gearing also, going the oppisite way!

super dependable, great MPG.

a refreshingly positive post from ronbros for once.

i like it. theyre fun cars. my roomates FD makes 720whp on 31psi with a 42R turbo, 1000cc primary and 2000cc secondary injectors with meth injection, a modest street port and 3mm apex seals. and ive personally done 180mph in the car on low boost (530whp 13psi) XD

Before you go and do something that you MIGHT regret

go rent an RX8 for a week end...

NO torque.... and to push around a 4k lbs car... you have a 3.73 rear in it already...
ok

get that RX8 and load it up with 50 lbs sacks of sand until it = the weight of you XJS

then see if you can live with that...

I would go with monster torque over any RX motor

the auto RX8 weighs about as much as my XJS does. also those cars arent turbocharged.
and lastly if you read any of my previous posts you would know that i have driven similar cars

i would go with monster torque any day of the week but since my torque monster XJS is broken 7 days a week.....

Where are you getting springs for the front end?

With that much room you should install a arcade cabinet or something under the hood. Play some pac-man in between repairs.

Another great project from M90. Keep thinking outside the box. Please keep me posted.
We buy these cars for the fun of it. Dont we?

That is certainly an interesting project, I hope it works out well for you.
Pictures of it going together would be nice. I believe you have a T5 with 3:73 rear end in there, do you plan to keep that setup?

Extend to a 4 rotor engine... Add a couple of turbos and you'll thrash everything on the road.

M90
Why does your new engine keep breaking gearboxes and flywheels?

well GM never really built a V6 specific trans to hold more than 280lbft of torque.
and since i make about 380lbft of torque on low boost, its sort of a hazard.

something ive been learning the hard way.

i have personally built many Mazda rotary engines, and the COST to build a 4 rotor, twin turbod, and the computor system to run it, would be $30-50 thousand dollars! not counting the drivetrain mods requierd.

i'd still go a simple stock/remap Audi V12 Diesel,and GM 4L80 trans, with 3.73 LSD like i have already!

i may as well dream also.

im so done with GM automatics. theyre slow to respond, early to upshift, and easy to burn up. ive blown up 9 GM automatics since i got my license driving 6 years ago.
