What tires you like for '95 XJS?
Need some new tires for the '95 XJS. Not a lot to pick from out there with V ratings, and seems like all are compromises. Just replaced Pirelli P4000e with Bridgestone Potenza RE97AS . Stiffest, bumpiest, most uncomfortable ride I ever had in the car. They are going back. What do you like?

I put Michelin pilot sport AS Plus about 18 months ago. Good ride and handling. Several long trips (600+miles) and were not noisy to me. Nice aggressive tread design.

I put falken ZX912s on mine when I got it, mostly because they are about 85 bucks a piece. I think they are amazing value. They look good and perform well overall. I don't have ABS and I have slid maybe twice ( hard traffic light stops) in the rain and have driven in downpours on the highway that I really shouldn't have(could hardly see any lines on the road), but they carried me all the way through! You can't get on it accelerating in the rain from a dead stop, but that is going to be any tire with an XJS.
For me, they have been verified by the same tires my dad ran on a miata when he had it, he had the exact same things to say about it as I did.
Again, for money, I went with a 225, the sidewall is either 65 or 60, i can't remember, but I think it looks loads better than the stock 70 or 75, whichever it is.
I will probably buy them for my MGB when I need tires for it.
EDIT: that picture makes me sick to look at. My car used to have a perfect body until some *** pulled out and hit the rear fender in a parking lot. The insurance said it was 50/50 fault and gave me 800 bucks. I don't have enough to get it fixed..

Think about the condition of your suspension too, if you don't have much money or time and your suspension causes any irregular wear, you may want to buy some harder wearing tires (or try to fix the damn problem). My cradle bushings are worn, causing excessive positive camber, which has worn my tires pretty bad. I think they are rated for 40-50k, and so they are fairly soft and sticky.

Sorry to awaken this thread but there are very few answers here.
I will be looking to replace the tires on 95 XJS 2+2 Convert. this spring.
Stock is 225/60R16. I would like a reasonable priced touring tire as the car will not used in the winter.
I like Michelin and Perelli .... others??
Cheers

The steering feel wasn't quite as crisp as an all-out performance tire...but I wouldn't describe it as sub-par or problematic in any way.
About $100 each a few years ago.
Cheers

Continental Extreme Contact DWS06, in size 235/50R-17 for the 17” Revolvers. I can’t say enough about how great these tires wound up to be. Neither myself, nor the store guys, could understand how, just changing tires all of the problems with the Pirelli tires disappeared like magic, including the hard effort to turn the steering wheel that my wife has thanked me for. On the road they feel phenomenal, so steady directional wise and so sharp in turns that I had forgotten what that actually feels like. Well, so much that recently it was time to replace tires on my XJR because of steel belts coming out of not-so-old Michelin Pilots… Guess what I put on the XJR? Continental Extreme Contact in 18” for my stock Asteroid rims. Again, the XJR, too, feels great with the Continentals. What can I say.
Cheers,
