89 V-12 Hard to Start When Hot
#41
I just came across this thread while browsing the forum after recently getting my '89 V-12. I had it checked out by an indy mechanic that specialized in jags before I bought the car. Without any mention of the car doing that, he told me that was one thing to watch out for - It may start hard when warm. He said it was the ethanol in the gas now days that vaporizes in the rails.
Just passing on what a seemingly knowledgeable jag mechanic told me off the cuff.

Don, I replyed to your PM on this subject, but I thought I'd post it here as well. Might help someone else with a similar problem.
I ended up taking it to a local shop that specializes in older jags. They replaced the coolant temperature sensor, adjusted the intake butterflys and adusted the trottle computer(ECU?). I was looking at my receipt and couldn't read his writing on that last one, so throttle computer may not be exactly what he wrote. I do remember him showing me a special tool he had to use to adjust the computer, and he said he hadn't had it out of his tool box in 10 years.
All this worked like a charm, but the problem is gradually coming back. It cost me nearly $400 last time, so I'm not in a hurry to get it fixed again. I may try a new coolant temperature sensor on my own since he stole a used one off a car in his back lot last time.
