Default LED light bulbs available for face lift tail lamps ?

I am thinking about replacing my '95 XJS tail lamp bulbs with LED. Has anyone done this yet and if so what did you find worked best ? The '95 XJS has the tail lamp lenses that are smoked colored from the factory and under certain conditions can make it hard to see the current tail lamp bulbs. I have had friends that were following me on a drive tell me at times they could hardly see my blinker was on etc.

Thanks in advance for any feed back you have on this project before I get started.

Try this place for LED lighting, I bought some for my 84 XJS from them.

I would love to use led replacement bulbs, however on my '93 6.0l the bulb failure units rely on current flow (bi-mettalic switch I believe) so when I tried led tail / stop lamps the bulb failure warning light was illuminated constantly.

Love to hear if you are successful.

I agree with the above... I'd love to have a simple change to LED lights on my '94 6.0l. Please let us know the results...

Hello!
I replaced the bulbs in the tail lights, brake lights, reverse lights, and indicators with LEDs in my '87 XJS, moreso to help reduce current draw on the alternator when driving at night with the headlights on (watching the needle drop below the middle of the battery gauge is always scary, haha), rather than for brightness, but the brightness is certainly a welcome byproduct.

I used 1156 BA15S CANBUS style LED's with in white/red/orange depending on the application, as using white for the brake/tail lights and the indicator comes out as white due to the brightness of the LED bulbs.

The bulb error idiot light stays on for a little bit longer than it used to with the standard bulbs, but goes off eventually once the current switch heats up enough to trigger it off. Not sure if it would work the same in your '94 XJS, or facelifted cars in general, depending on how the error light is triggered.

These are ones are similar to the ones I purchased on ebay:

I use tail light bulbs from Honda, they are a higher wattage than the standard over the counter replacements. I don't have the part numbers handy but I received help from Daniel Stern Lighting Consultancy and Supply. A good source for lighting information. That was 4 years ago so he might have some updated information on the LEDs. I have been thinking about changing all my exterior lights to LEDs but I don't want to alter the bulb out warning circuits. I have LEDs in most of my warning lights and has made a BIG difference. The sport mode and 1st lock out can't use the LEDs due to a low voltage always being present at the bulbs.
