Default new wheels for my 95 xjs

Hi all,

I am in search of new 16" wheels to replace the 15" ones I have now. What specs do I need to know in order to find ones that fit properly. I found an incredible deal at: http://dealnews.com/Audi-16-x7-Spoke...re/433521.html - but I could only be so lucky that the bolt pattern would be correct. Any suggestions?

The bolt pattern is easy. It's an ordinary "5-on 4.75". The tricky part is the center hole...bigger on Jag wheels (2.875" or so, I think) than most others

Somtimes a smaller center hole can be machined to fit the Jaguar hubs but have a machine shop check before you buy.

Cheers

My dad has a set of the factory 16's off a 95 if you are interested. I think they will need refinishing though.

^sometimes a refinished OEM wheel is not only cheaper, but maintains the value of the car in lieu of aftermarket ones...plus, they probably 'fit' the body style better. post up a pic 07xk for the OP to see.

Default 95 xjs wheels

Thanks 07XKJaguar for the offer but I'll have to come right out and admit I'm stupid. I actually have 16" wheels and was thinking about upping to 17". It seems that it will cost almost as much to re-finish my wheels as it would to buy new ones. Also, tire stores in town say the w-z rated 16" tires are more expensive than comparable 17" tires. What's a guy to do.....

You might want to try Andrew at Jaguar Specialties. (no affiliation) I have been talking to him about downgrading my 18" double five XKR wheels for some chrome 17" revolver XK8 wheels.

Most all the the of XK/XJ wheels fit with either milling of the center, or a 3/16" wheel spacer, or removing the center cap.

Best of all they are Jaguar wheel with Jaguar center caps and look the business.

The five raised spoke wheels from the first generation XK8 are unbeatable (not sure if these are what some refer to as "Revolver"). I put them on my XJS almost as soon as I bought it, back ten years ago, and the enhancement they provide towards the car appeal and overall presence is, simply, incredible. These wheels tend to stand out and to generate a lot of "Beautiful wheels" comments (at least on my XJS), especially with the chromed version. Curiously, this practice is a popular one with racing XJS' in the UK, as I frequently see them on pics in the racing section of Jaguar World Monthly magazine (have a mini-collection of relevant pics). Gail Hill had them on two of her racing cars, including her "Gulf" XJS that she was recently selling. No chrome on the race cars, obviously. The front wheels will need a 1/4" spacer, the rear are OK. Trade value? Better. The 15" OEM Lattice wheels would absolutely kill an XJS that already features chromed five-raised-spoke Jag wheels.

BTW, the first gen XK8 five-raised-spoke wheels are 17" wheels. The original tires that came with these wheels were Pirelli P-zeros. Since my wheels came as a set from an XK8 at the local Jag dealer, my tires are P-zeros, as well.

Talking

Glad to help.
Attached, please find some of UK racing XJS' with XK8 wheels. Car 99 is Gail Hill's "Gulf" racing XJS. The "Gulf" XJS that Gail was selling was actually a second car, obviously, since it is car #52 instead of car #99 and it has 2002 XJR wheels, instead. I mention this only because the same wheels on my own 2002 XJR look heavenly on it, yet, to me, they do not look quite as attractive on Gail's XJS as the XK8 wheels do on car #99. Just my personal taste and perspective.

If you haven't yet, my own gallery here at this Website features several pics of my own BRG XJS, some showing the subject wheels.
which do look heavenly on my own 2002 XJR, yet, on Gail's for-sale XJS Cheers, and good luck on your wheels search!

Sorry about the incorrect editing on my previous text (Didn't delete a misplaced statement)

The only additional and general comment I would have regarding wheels is Jaguar engineering's assessment of what tires are best for what car, meaning, are the P-zeros as desirable on an XJS as they are on an XK8? Sometimes I hear that a good segment of the XK8 platform is based on the XJS', which, somehow, I find hard to believe, but if true, then the wheels/P-zero combo is perfect for the XJS.

Cheers!

Reinaldo
