ok new wheel idea...scratched the last one
I was going to change out my 15 inch rims for a different set (Lattice) but after speaking to you guys and learning how freaking hard it is to get tires anymore in that size....I stumbled across these
They are (hope the picture shows up properly) 16 inch factory rims from a 95/96 XJS I think. Mine is an 89 couple v12. From what I can tell the bolt pattern and offset are the same...the only difference is that the factory 15's I have are 6.5 wide I think and these are 7 inches wide. I think they will still work on my 89 XJS however...
Any insight? Seems like, as you have been kind enough to tell me, there are MANY more tire choices in the 16" range than the 15"
Thanks

Look for tires that are 26.1" in diameter. 225/60-16 or 235/55-16 would fit.

And I have even considered fitting them on my own 89 V12 but as I picked up a new Set of Lattice, at a bargain price and can still get hold of 15 inch tyres, I want to keep her the way She is, at least for the time being.

H&Kjaguar,
As mentioned, those are the standard XJS wheels that became normal fitment from April 95 until the end of production. It fits straight on to your 89 car.
It was fitted with either the 225/60 16 or the 225/55 16 tyre. I would strongly suggest that you stick to one of these standard tyre sizes. 225/60 (with the correct weight rating) is a little more difficult to find in the UK compared to the 225/55. The 225/55 is a very slightly stiffer tyre, which I prefer anyway. I moved from 225/60 to 225/55 some years ago on my car.
Good luck

Thanks ! I am picking her up from SC and taking her home finally to Florida after getting her refreshed and running like a top
Really looking forward to it...its my first one so I know I am in for a treat
What tire weight is recommended?
I will keep the 5 star wheels so I can keep it as original as possible as I believe those are the ones that came on it from factory...so I can put them aside and if need swap them out...just seems in the 15 inch range you either get Perelli P600 for like 300+ per tire... or you buy something that's about 72 bucks a tire when you can find it in size Frustrating it seems

H&Kjaguar,
If you're going to run 225/55 16 then I would look for a 98 load rating. 95 might be ok, but I run 98. Some owners even go for 101 rating. Don't go for cheaper tyres with 92 or 93 ratings. I don't know if you have insurance companies over there who consider these things, but in the UK, one of the first things they'll look at if you're unlucky enough to have an accident, is the tread condition, speed rating and load rating of the tyres. If you're running tyres with ratings not consistent with manufacturers defined standard, then you'll be in trouble.

My previous post was referring to H&k's 16" wheels and I think he will have no problems in maintaining close to original diameter . I agree with Ronaldp , I have had very low profile tyres on my Skyline the ride is harsh and after hitting a pothole lost the tyre and damaged the rim just not enough sidewall rubber, having said that I think my XjS looks better with my 17" wheels as before it looked like to much rubber and not enough wheel , like H&K I am keeping the original wheels just in case .

When I found that I couldn't get Z-rated tires in a 15" size, I looked around for 16" wheels for my 1986 XJS.
I finally decided on the later-model Jaguar Vanden Plas wheels. I think they look great. But fitting them required:
Installing longer wheel studs on the front;
Modifying the back of the front center caps so as to clear the grease caps;
Thin wheel spacers to provide just a little bit more clearance.

That "Nanny" state syndrome. Can't stand it. Politico's
her seeking to advance it.
So far, not on the wheel and tire thing...
If I so chose, I could bolt on wooden wagon wheels with steel rims, no rubber at all!! But, if I got in an accident and they had something to do with it, it might impact a civil claim for damages.
So, my XJwuzza 6 wears T rated B. F. Goodrich 260 x 70 x 15's
on 7" XJS sourced lattice wheels. My car is probably capable of exceeding their speed rating. Will I drive in excess of 125 mph
for an extended period. No!!! But, I can dream....

They look terrible and will not fit properly and if you send them to me in Australia I will dispose of them for you !!! I have just fitted a set of 17" with lower profile tyres , but not to low a profile and just roughly they were only around 10mm (3/8") taller than the standard wheels .

Thanks baxtor , I thought the comment " send to Australia " would have been obvious as humour H&k's wheels are stunning .If BCxjs had scrolled down further he would have read that I was referring to H&k and not to his wheels , which I might add have a similar spoke look to the wheels I have just fitted to my car , it was just unfortunate that his post and picture appeared before my post . If Bcxjs reads this , for the record , I would never be so rude to anybody .
