Please Help. Multifunction Module Problem?
I have a 1996 Jaguar XJS with the AJ16.
OK, here's a strange one, please bear with me.
As you may know by reading my other recent posts, I have been having trouble with the power lock actuator on my passengers side door. The actuator works, but fires for a second or two, repeatedly.
a. I've disconnected the actuator from the power lock linkage- no improvement. I have discarded the possibility that the linkage is the cause.
b. I have replaced the actuator and it is behaving the same way. I have discarded the possibility that the linkage is bad.
c. I replaced the Sumitomo 5 pin connector that connects the actuator with the car's circuits. Pins and connector were all replaced. No improvement. I have discarded that the connector is at fault.
This is where it gets good.
I found out about the "Multifunction Module", or Part Number DAC11139, and how to diagnose inputs and outputs. (seriously, check out the attachment) It involves holding down the sat heater button and listening to chimes.
I find that I DON'T get a chime when opening the passenger's side door! There is clearly something up with the "system input" at the passenger's side door. The manual is not clear about what exactly the system inputs are and how to find the fault.
Can anyone here help?

Vee,
Tks for posting that. I'm sure there's a lot of owners who weren't aware of the module or its function. Just a minor point, it's the heated rear window switch which initiates the diag sequence not the seat heater switch.
I've had an annoying problem for some time on my car where there's a repeated fast chiming sound when I open the drivers door until I either shut it or put the ignition to Pos II. It's as if it thinks that the lights are on with the door open, or key is in the ignition barrel and the door open. I think that those are the only 2 conditions which justify a fast chime. I have wondered if the MF module is somehow at fault?
As regards your lock actuator, have you tried swapping it with the other side to see if it replicates the problem. It sounds as if it's somehow cycling maybe due to current fluctuation or perhaps an internal short.
Tks again for the doc.
