Actually, it is crud writing English on a German telephone... The spelling is changed randomly even with autotext deactivated. I can edit a text a million times and it will always have some mistake... Poxy mobile phones! :-/
Carried on cleaning up today. Removed all the gunk and poop and acorns from the V, removed the dizzy and the V cover, removed the old paper gasket and cleaned it all up. Tgen I used some silicone gasket stuff (for high temperatures) and stuck the cover on again and tightend it all up.
Nice few findings:
The oil pressure sensor seems nearly new (no dirt or corrosion on it, no oil coming out of any areas)
The rear of the engine only has a little gunk on the bell housing. Otherwise spotless.
The dizzy is in good condition.
The engine turns over by hand really easily even though compression is built up (after sitting nearly 2 years I was worried the cylinders were rusting etc.)
When the parts come , I can move on. Many building site at once and a very long parts list

The dirty V is getting a lot cleaner. I am liking the fact, that beneath all that gunk and grime, the engine hasn't corroded much. So it shines quite well... Me likey!

I refitted the dizzy with a new soft rubber ring and replaced the new named 'butt plug' -> the chain tensioner plug. As it was supposed to be simple, I thought 'won't take long' and then ot decided 'hey, I'll fall apart and drop into the engine'
Got all the little parts and bits out luckily, but what idiot thought that a rubber plug would be best!? Why not next time use a piece of selatape!? Or maybe - I don't know - make it a screw!?
I also removed the altenator, the servo pump and the water bottle.
My oil leak seems to be coming from the oil cooler hose connections... They seem very oily but that can also be from other parts. Heck, I'll just do all oil seals available and done!
So, when I bought the car, there was a bad vibration above 60mph. Inspector noticed three things: wire wheels unbalance-able, broken tranny (gearbox) mount, and broken sway bar bracket bushing.
Replaced the gawdawful wire rims with nice Teardrops, that fixed 70% of the problem. Rebuilt the tranny mount, now we're up to 80%.
Finally got around to redoing the sway bar (anti-roll) bushings and bolts. Now it's up to 90% fixed.
What should have been a 4-hour leisurely job turned into a four day project. Broken, stripped bolts, wrong bolts, impossible angles to get at the D-mount brackets, etc.
But I got 'er done. New nuts, bolts, bushings all around. With lessons learned, next time I'll be able to do it in under an hour.
Car drives great now at highway speeds. Very happy.
Next up, probably the steering rack, and any other worn suspension components I can get at easy (though I'm more cautious now about things that look "easy").
Well, I finally got to replace the old and tired (15 years) Pirelli Pzero with highly recommended for better ride comfort Continentals ExtremeContact DWS tires. Very happy because the ride improvement turned out significant and highly desired due to the lower profile tire with the 17" Revolvers.
Along with the new tires came new brakes. New rotors and new pads at the four corners and pending soon are new hoses and a brake fluid change.
Any specific recommendations in regards to brake hoses? If so, please advise, thank you.

I used alloy timing chain plug and rear seals from the usa
I would love to but it isn't original and therefore the German TÜV won't like it and it may also cause the car to fail it's H-plate check in a few years time. So I'm going the original route in many areas. Others that aren't so important like exhaust or aircon aren't bothering me much.

Wow, that's insane. Do you need the original factory air in the tyres also.
Incidentally l am not sure the alloy bits are still available but if they are l would challenge anyone to spot them unless they were looking specifically for them.

No luckily not. Tires can be changed. They look for most parts to be original so they do check. My car has also never been registered here before so they are even more thorough... Every bit that isn't nearly original will be noted... All that just to get down from €1200 road tax to €179 a year... And to have access to major city centres.

I believe that I've seen this brought up before, but can the repeated pics be trimmed off from the responses that no longer really need them? In cases such as this thread, with such long string of pictures, repeating them unnecessarily consumes space/pages galore, here already going on 21 pages. True that the thread has been around for a while, but is also true that it could be much shorter without lacking the same pertinent info if pics were less repeated.
Only thing is that I wouldn't necessarily know how to identify pictures on the "quote" response prompt, so to delete them.
How-to hints would be appreciated.

i finally have all my engine leaks stopped, BUT not the rear crank seal,still leaks,[t was done when engine was complete overhaul, but slowly started to leak after 3000/4000miles.
it seems to be leveled off now, i think its from crank wobble in the ROPE seal.
i applied more vacuum in the case, it helped some.
So, I think this explains mostly what I have been up to...:
Getting cleaner! No gunk on the front now... Once the engine is out, I can get to the sh*te on the sides and rear. Hopefully also get all the seals done... YAY!
