What are the oval holes in the Under Tray For? (XJS V12)
What is the purpose if any, of the oval shaped holes on the leading edge of the Under Tray.
Do they actually do anything, or are they just for decoration?
Would it be better or worse without those holes or not make any real difference if they were not there?

I believe that they are there to allow a degree of air pressure equalisation between the inside and the outside. At high speeds the aerodynamic loads are pretty substantial (ie low pressure outside underneath) and I always presumed the slots are there to ameliorate/limit the pressure differential to a degree. mainly to preserve the spoiler/tray/body assembly in one piece!
But there again, Grant light tell us it was so something could be assembled or serviced somehow !
