I am glad you are making progress.
The actual firing ORDER, (ie the sequence in which each cylinder comes to TDC on the compression stroke) CANNOT change. What CAN change is the dizzy post that fires A1 and thus starts the firing sequence of all 12 cylinders.
The dizzy post that fires A1 can change if the dizzy drive shaft is unscrewed from the V and the spindle rotated a bit and replaced. It sounds like, before you had the car, someone did this and altered the HT leads' position to compensate.
As far as the misfire is concerned, once you have found the post that fires A1, then the order of the HT leads MUST follow, from that post, the standard firing order.
