Default 2007 Jaguar XK - progam Homelink button to Genie Intellicode garage door opener

Due to my frustration in figuring this out (the directions in the owner's manual did not work for me), I thought I would post the following instructions in case others had difficulty as well.

Genie Intellicode and 2007 Jaguar XK programming

1) Start the vehicle (not just convenience mode).

2) To clear current vehicle settings, press and hold the two outermost buttons on the vehicle Homelink console until a fast blink occurs and then release.

3) Hold a handheld remote less than two inches from the preferred Homelink console button and press and hold the hand held transmitter and the console button until a fast blink occurs and then release both buttons.

4) Press the program button on the garage door opener main module. The light should blink red.

5) Press and hold the programmed car console button for approximately 2 seconds and repeat until the garage door activates.

Thanks, this could come in handy as I'm with a week of making up my mind on buying a pre-owned 08 Xk.

Cheers

SGS, what is the garage door opener main module? Is that the "learn" button on the opener main housing?

Correct, I had to do the same with my lift master. For any rolling code system, you have to program the hand held unit to the home link first.

Once that is complete then you hit the learn button on the main door unit and go back and press the button you just programmed in 2 seconds integrals. Mine worked after the first 2 seconds

The manual is correct but you can't skip the first section.

First program handheld unit, then main door.

Thank you. This worked. I have tried numerous times before just using the manual and I was quite frustrated. Thanks again.

This topic was originally started on this forum by Evoking on 6/18/2012 and was extensively discussed. Here's the link: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-opener-75297/

If SGS's instructions in his post #1, above, don't work for you, try the following instructions (copied from my post #12 in the above link). It's basically the same as SGS's instructions, except for Steps 1 and 4, below.

Here's how I programmed the HomeLink buttons in my 2009 XKR for my rolling code garage door.

The HomeLink buttons inside your car must first be initialized in order to be recognized by the rolling code receiver. But before you do so, you have to clear the HomeLink transmitter buttons in your car by holding down the outside 2 buttons until the light above Button #2 flashes quickly. Then you can initialize each HomeLink button. Follow these steps:

1. Open your garage door and then unplug your garage door opener motor.

2. Next, get the remote control transmitter that came with the garage door opener and go sit in your car.

3. Hold the remote control transmitter next to the HomeLink button you want to initialize and press them both until the HomeLink light above the middle button flashes quickly (about 10 seconds). Release both buttons.

4. Plug the garage door opener motor back in.

5. Open the panel on your garage door opener motor housing and press the red (usually) "send" button to send the rolling code to the car.

6. HURRY! Get back in your car and within 10 seconds press the HomeLink button you just initialized and hold it until the light bulb(s) in the garage door motor housing flash off and on. Release that HomeLink button and then press it again (for 2-3 seconds). It should work to open and close your garage door. (If not, try repeating the above steps for Button #2 and Button #3.

You can repeat the above steps for the other 2 buttons if you want to program all of them to work to open your garage door or another door. If you have more than one car, you should to program all of them at the same time so they all have the same rolling code.
