Airbag warning light with code B0070
Hi guys, wanted to mention this just in case anyone else has this happen:
Drove to work and home and the car was fine. Went to a store, car was parked for maybe an hour. I got in and started it and the airbag warning light on the dash was on. I drove home. Restarted the car, the light would come on with all the other lights, turn off with all the lights, than stay on steadily. No blinking code, just steady on. Someone posted a list of the blinking codes for that and staying on was listed as "Miscellaneous" (that didn't help). I did an OBD2 scan, and in the restraint control area it had B0070. Which is the driver seatbelt tensioner.
Before I attempted to remove the seat and have a look, I decided to pull the seatbelt as far as it would go, and see if it was caught or twisted. It wasn't. But I started the car and buckled up, and the light is no longer on! So, the seatbelt must have just been caught on something.
A lot of hassle for something simple. So if the warning light is on steadily for anyone, just try tugging the seatbelts a bit, and see if that fixes it first, before you go to too much trouble.

Update
So the warning light was off yesterday morning, but after sitting in the hot sun in the parking lot at work, the light was back on in the evening. Again no flashing, just on steadily.
This morning after sitting in my garage over night, the light was off again.
Now I am thinking that the warning light has nothing to do at all with a problem with the seatbelt, but is just from the car sitting in the hot sun. I plan to test the battery when I get home, just to see if that could be related in some crazy way.
Maybe my car is just being a brat and needs me to buy her presents.. Something new and shiny should do the trick

I did test the battery and the CTek had it in the yellow. I set it to recondition tonight.
The weather should start getting cooler, so I will wait and see.

Thanks Ngarara, you were correct. The light eventually came on and stayed on. So when I brought my car to the shop for another thing, I asked them to look at this also. The tech there agreed that it was just a loose connection.

hi japv.
same history, absolute same history.
After a parking with high degrees warning light start, during winter it's more difficult
but come again.
during check light go off and after 5 second back on sometimes remain off without
starting engine other times it come also without stating engine.
the only great difference is in the model car not xk 150 but much older xk8 97
Finally how have you resolved?
tku.

Please excuse me for digging up this zombie, but I want to correct a misstatement made by Plums. I found it strange that Jaguar would wire one side if the repeaters and not the other, so started poking around. Sure enough, the right hand wiring is indeed there. It is a dead ended plug in the space where the ECU is. The wire isn't long enough to reach the badge/repeater,and the connector isn't for it (it's the typical type) , so I suspect there is a pigtail with a part number out there somewhere. Any help with that would be appreciated.
Also note, If you knock the adjacent relay loose the CEL will light up and you will get codes P0031, P0037, P0051, and a C something. Forgot that one, something about a left rear sensor.

Great post - hoping it's something similar for an X100? (UK 2002 XKR 4.0)
I found the diagram below:
Looking under my seat though I can't see where this is (ringed on the lower right hand side) - do I need to take something else apart to get to it?
I also 'played' with the item ringed at the top centre, wondering what this was... inside it says SR2220; I know SRS relates to airbags but that may be unrelated - randomly as well there's the number 0049 and this is the 49 airbag error code - pure coincidence though I'm guessing?!
Thanks all
Ross
