Exclamation coolant leak from rear of engine, help help

saw steam today when car was idling. Loads of coolant dripping on the ground from above the transmission at rear of engine, car is in car park a work so safe there. Took the engine cover of but can see nothing from the top. Will look underneath later after work. Any ideas anyone on what pipe and how to remove. all round coolant bottle is ok. No over heat light , thank god. Had a new thermostat a few months ago. Think water pump is at the front

Throttle body hose? The steam leads me to believe the coolant is coming from above and leaking on the exhaust manifolds or cats.

Brutal, haven't seen you here in forever! I know this was a problem with the X350, though after 100K miles I never had an issue with it, but is this also a concern with the X150?

It's a problem with every 4.2 liter Supercharged engine. 90% + chance it's the hose under the supercharger.
Other lesser possibilities:
Heater hoses (7+8 in diagram)
Throttle body (9+10 in diagram)

Frankly I thinks it's less common in the XK forum than the X350 and S-Types because there are just fewer XKR's on the road comparatively.

I had the failure myself. Because of the location of the hoses, the repair set me back something like $1500

Thanks guys, its heading to my mechanic for fixing, only consolation was getting it in time when leaking, so no engine damage, going to get all the hidden pipes redone.

now is a perfect time to have the super charger pulley pressed off and snout machined to fit a smaller pulley and increase the boost and bring the boost in sooner... <<<<that's the silver lining

He's already fitted the smallest pulley but perhaps a polish or powder coat and polish and port the inside.

Car going to be worked on tomorrow, it is due its MOT or as they call it the NCT here, he is going to go thought it with a fine tooth comb as they say. Going to get him to get rid of that duck bill problem to and of course there will be a wash and polish.

one of the black pipes in the centre of the pic was the leaking pipe, what a stupid place to put them. He is removing the duck bill pipe as he has all out of the way, another blunder

Yup, valley hose.

It's a question of when, not if.

Be thankful it's relatively easy to remove the supercharger on an XKR, on a X350 XJR or S-Type R it's a huge job...

On the upside, you've got another decade before you have to worry about it again. Glad it's getting resolved.

Thank my lucky stars i got it before it did any harm, the heater got cold about a mile from work, must have being draining then, when i parked up, i got out to see the remains of the coolant dripping over the cats , hence steam, the coolant bottle had drained, just got it in time. My wife was to take the car that day and was going on a longer journey so if it had happened driving id say it would have cooked. It will be great to have that dreaded duck bill away so won't have to worry about it.

I was wondering the same thing. lol Will an upgraded pulley have any bad side effcts? Burn more gas?

A place called Mina Gallery sells it online as well as other jaguar parts.

Can someone please tell me what the part number to that "Valley hose"? I suspect mine is leaking too on my 2007 Jaguar XKR
