Default MY 2010 Tail Light Upgrade Revisited

Came across this online:

Tail light conversion kit - Jaguar-Shop.com

They claim its a simple plug and play with the wire harness they offer.

Is this possible?

I know George Kale did a great write up to make it work with resistors but I was wondering if any vendors are offering an error free complete kit?

Hey Mike.....that was what I was looking for all this time....a conversion kit. Possibly you can ask them does their kit eliminate all "Bulb Out" warnings on the dash, rapid flashing, and does it have built in load resistors inside the wiring harnass. If yes....this might be the easier way to go! There are alot of aftermarket companies who provides an aftermarket wiring harnass to upgrade to LED taillights for other cars but haven't seen any for Jaguar until now. Good job!

$1972.94 (1,398.95 €)

Is doing it George's way a lot cheaper? If this kit is truly plug-n-play then the extra money would be worth it, especially if it doesn't cause the warnings and such as Ghostrider pointed out.

Query: Wonder if they would give us a break in the price if enough went in on the conversion?

You'll probably save arround $700-$800 if you go Dan@Nalley/George's way. I'm still getting Brake Lamp Failure on the dash eventhough I've haven't brought it back to the shop to replace the resistors on the left side. If I still get the bulb failure after installing new resistors....this might be the way to go for me.

This is the bulb failure I'm getting:

Actually, a bit less expensive today: $1,965.86 XE: (EUR/USD) Euro to US Dollar Rate

I noted that the sales price includes VAT (the European Value Added Tax) but does not include shipping to USA. VAT does not apply to shipments to the USA, so you need to get a delivered price excluding VAT. Also, see if there might be a distributor/sales rep in the USA.

Default Led

My concern is if these are equipped with LED lighting or is it just the 2010 tail lamp shell with halogen bulbs.

I've sent an email to the vendor to verify. Still waiting for a response.....

I've seen stuff like this before on a previous X5 I owned when I got aftermarket tail lights for it. On the OEM all bulbs plugged in and out individually where as on the aftermarket unit you had to wire everything in. IOW the inside working of the tail light assembly was totally different.

So they will not collect VAT for sales to the US?

I sent a question asking if they would give a price break for a bulk purchase but have not received a reply (as yet).

I just hope he's right on the no bulb failure on the dash. I remember my 997TT friend telling me they had a Group Purchase on aftermarket LED taillights for the '06-'09s. These are aftermarket and not OEM '10 LED taillight conversions as the '10s needs bumper modifications to make them work. The first batches people were getting "bulb failure" and finally they were returned and reworked.

I'm probably out for now (hoping replacing the left resistors will work for me) but keep us updated on the GP price.

So I just want to make sure I understand this.

These are *not* Jaguar tail light parts, they are aftermarket tail lights with LED lighting.

Is this correct?

If this kit does not use Jaguar tail light parts then the price is...well let's say I think it is a bit excessive.

Not putting aftermarket stuff on my Jag.

They look like OEM Taillights to me (at least in the pics). Most likely it's an aftermarket wiring harnass or a modified OEM one.

If that's the case then that would be fine. I've sent two emails since yesterday and have not received a reply to either one.

If one of you guys to whom they reply promptly could check and verify whether they use OEM tail light parts with their own modified wiring harness that would be great.

I'm pretty sure they are OEM taillights as they look the same as OEM...but maybe someone can find out.

Theirs:

OEM:

Most of the time the aftermarket design doesn't look as good.

For example.......PCar:

'10 OEM:

Here's a picture of George Kales 2010 tail lights...

They don't look the same to me...or does he have the emergency lights activated?? (ie Yellow portion of lights?)

I looked at some other pics...I guess George had the emergency lights on when he took the pics...my apologies.

Must be the angle that George took the pic as that's the line that surrounds the turn signal LEDs is reflecting back on the pic (it's not the brake lights being on).

Just took some pics of mine a few minutes ago....the kit look the same (if not similar) as OEM....but maybe he will reply back with a definite answer:

that jaguar-shop.org is ridiculously expensive.
Better go to www.ebay.de or www.ebay.co.uk
