Default Sticky console switches

My '12 with only 7K mi I just bought has a sticky feeling to the black console keys and the black rubberized area on the steering wheel spokes. Is there anything to remedy that? How is the best way to clean them? Is there a danger in scrubbing the coating off?

I have the same issue, the material that surrounds the buttons on the steering wheel is gummy as are the buttons on for traction control, sport, etc.

It was the same on my previously totaled '12 XK. Figured it is just the way that material feels???

Same kind of sticky buttons found in FCA products like Ferrari and Maserati?

You'll see a bunch of threads pertaining to those marque's sticky buttons (google search). For them, it's poor quality.

I would first try something like "409" or dish washing soap solution.

It may be too late. If any of a myriad of cleaners was ever used on the rubberized (or whatever) buttons and such, the degradation may have already progressed too far and cannot be undone.

3M Citrus based cleaner
Dawn dishwashing soap.

try going in order of mild to wild - Dawn on a damp cloth, if that doesn't work, try citrus cleaner, then the electric cleaner in my last post.

This is a common problem in many vehicles. As Cee Jay notes, may be too late but trying these products one at a time will cost you less than $10

Maybe try this:

Then relax with a sticky bun.
