Default Supercar Sunday

I stopped by Supercar Sunday at Woodland Hills Promenade this past Sunday. As usual a terrific turnout but only 3 lonely Jaguars, 2 XKRs and 1 V-12 XJS. Usually, I've seen one or two F-types but not this time. For those in So Cal, it would be nice to get a contingent of Jaguars there one Sunday, meet for breakfast at Corner Bakery (in the parking lot), and actually get to know some of our forum brethren other than by our usernames. The beautiful Carnelian Red convertible parked in front of my silver coupe belonged to the father of a young man visiting from England (he's got an Aston Vantage at home) . What was interesting was the top, it was a tweed comprised of the red (burgundy) and black, and was just great.
Let's try to set a date in the New Year and get together.

It's a 1935 or 1936 Auburn Boattail Speedster, but I can't tell from the photo if it's an original or a replica. See: Auburn Speedster Replica and Second Generation Cars

My son-in-law is from Auburn, Indiana - the home of "The World's Greatest Classic Car Show and Festival" - an annual reunion the week before Labor Day for Auburns, Cords, and Duesenbergs, which is where they were manufactured. https://www.acdfestival.org I've been there and highly recommend this event. All the restored A-C-D cars drive into town in a parade, with drivers and passengers in period costumes, and park around the courthouse - which is like stepping back in time. While you're there, don't miss the amazing A-C-D Museum with two floors of exhibits including incredible "one-off" Duesenbergs, Lalique crystal hood ornaments, and Mr. Cord's office as it was on the day he died. Auctions America also holds a HUGE auction in Auburn, Indiana on Labor Day weekend, to coincide with the Festival. Auctions America's Fall Auburn Auction

There was a 2007 or 2008 XKR on the market near Atlanta a little over a year ago, and from the pictures (didn't see a close-up) it looked like the same top. Didn't think that was an OEM color, so it was throwing me off a bit, and I thought maybe it looked a bit too feminine, or maybe something a rich old dude would drive.
Now that I'm a year older, it doesn't look so bad, and might actually be a better match than the tan top on mine.

prettybluefin,
Congratulations! Beautiful coupe! Ralphwg and I are considering going to a meet in Palos Verdes on Sunday morning. I had some minor surgery on my heel and depending on how much pain I'm in tomorrow afternoon, I am going to try and meet Ralph. It is at the Golden Cove shopping center at 9am at the corner or Hawthorne Bl. and Palos Verdes Dr. W. It's an all British Car meet and greet.

Hi Ralph,
I decided not to make it today, as well, my heel was just too painful to want to walk around. Hopefully, next month we can all make it.

Hey Ted and Ralph, I'll be in LA from March 11 to March 18 with my daughter for her March break. If there is a meet during this time maybe we can meet up.
