Default 04 XKR Felt Help

Last summer a mouse got undrer the hood and chewed a nasty spot on the felt covering that goes on the front of the utility box located behind the left strut tower. It drives me nuts when I open the hood. I can't find the part number and doubt any dealer would stock it.

Any ideas on where to find one? Anybody have a clean used part to sell. No XK Jags in my area Junk Yards. Thanks, Jim

There are several cars being parted in the classified section so you might try one of those.

I would expect you will find one as this part is not likely to be in high demand.

Whatever that material is, it must be mighty tasty to the little critters. I have seen several cars, including my own, with the exact same damage. Some thin black linen, carefully trimmed and fastened with headliner adhesive can make a pretty decent patch that is barely noticeable.

I would set some traps, do some skinning and tanning, and then cover that utility box in fresh mousehide....

Hi.

I used some PlastiDip on mine. Was worse than yours, but the paint made it look pretty good.

Slip some scented dryer sheets behind the replacement. That should keep it from happening again.

That's a good idea, I'll stuff a bunch left from winter storage behind there. Maybe a plastic bag Time Capsule too with a Build Sheet, History, and a few photos for the next generation to find.

BTW: I learned something about recylers. I was told when they disassemble the cars and pull the engine, that they cut right trough that area. I got lucky and someone rescued the part.
