18's 19's or 20's? Lowered...Help :O)
I heard Santa wants to get me some new rims. My xjr has 20" sepangs on it and the drive isn't all that bad...... however my lowered XKR even with The current double H's its a bit rough. I am going to redo the bushings and struts once the weather gets warmer however I'm stumped as to which size to go with sizes, rim offsets tire sizes. I did quite a bit of searching however the info I found is all over. Be nice if we actually had a thread with this information listed. Maybe we do and I didn't find it?. I'm not set on a particular size but would like as much meat under the fenders as I can. Anyway any help is appreciative. Rims wise Im looking at something matt black with a polished or chrome ring...Set of Perseus would be nice...
Thanks all!
Thanks all!

I know. I have a place by me that is willing to try rims on the car to see what fits as far as clearance of calipers etc. Im collecting as much info in regards to offsets I can find and tires size. That will help narrow it down. I kind of like this rim and they make it in the correct bolt pattern but unsure if hub bore is correct

Hi Slowpoke, nice rims you found there and they should go well with your matte black car. Very reminiscent of the Perseus', which seem quite hard to find, at least on this side of the pond.
Have you checked out Coventry wheels? They are made to Jaguar specs and come in varying sizes. I'm thinking particularly of the Whitley's, although they're gloss black, not matte.
Good luck with Santa :-)

I LOVE the perseus. IF I could get a set Id redo the centers Matte black. I found some montreals locally but they don't do it for me. I love those Coventry wheels as well. They are on the list. I didn't want to go all black out on my car. I still like some chrome so a black center chrome or polished lip is what I'm after. Too much black takes away from the cars style in my opinion. Maybe it will be an after xmas xmass present. Don't want to rush it

Not sure but I think I saw a thread that said with 19" staggered rims the offset is 32 front and 36 rear. I have 19 staggered Apollo rims which are in need of refurbishing as the chrome is pealing off quite badly. I'd switch to 18" and run taller tires for the ride if I didn't like the Apollos so much.

I've got 18" staggered Double 5's on my 2002 XKR and 20" staggered Kalimnos on my 2010 XKR. The 20" wheels are definitely less comfortable not necessarily because they're 20" but because the greater diameter shrinks the height of the sidewalls of the bigger tires to where there is no more than about an inch of sidewall. If a more filled wheel well is what you're after, go with the 20"s, if comfortability is what you're after, go 18"s or 19"s. you'll be happier.

18x9x35mm rear
18x8x33mm front
The width is the same on the 19" wheels, and the offsets should be as well.
The OEM 20" wheels are wider and the offsets are different:
20x10x18mm rear
20x9x25mm front

Well forgetting where I lived I bent one of my 20" sepangs on my xjr last night..WELLLLL....I do believe 20's are definitely out. And looking at my xkr I believe lowered the 18" look at fit well on the car. Now one issue is it seems as you go from 20's to 18's the rim selection lessened.....Ill post on here with any progress....Currently looking at 18"

Thanks for the offset info I was only off by 1 mm front and rear not bad for a guy that can't remember the last time I took a ****!

I have 20's with lowered suspension, and (when not in Sport Mode) in comparison to my partner's RenaultSport Megane 265 it's soft as butter. It crashes about a bit over potholes but I suspect that's down to it being a heavy car rather than the rims/shocks combo. It rides at least as well as my bog stock RS197 Clio. I don't have any experience with smaller wheels or standard suspension but I really don't find my setup a hardship during my 50-mile daily commute or 99% of the rest of the time.

I have 20 inch OEM Detroits on my 03 XKR and thought a wheel change would be my first order of business upon purchase but I find little ride difference between them and the 19 inch equipped Jags I have driven given decent road surfaces and the relatively mild GT factory suspension. No question they are more vulnerable to potholes and curbs which can be expensive! If that is your true concern then I think 18s are you best bet! Otherwise, you can't beat the sexy looks of a 19 or 20 inch wheel!
