Default The Ultimate Mod

Actually it is more like my cat had one huge kitten. Just picked up an F-Type, now I have two cats. I'm keeping the XKR and housing the F-type over at Club Sportiva and putting it in their stable (it's a share deal where I get priority on my car and when someone else is driving it I can drive their McLaren, Cobra, Aston Martin, Lambo, Ferrari etc.). Kind of like having a whole stable of exotics without the cost. Anyway here are some initial shots. (I'll have some new shots of my XKR up shortly, it is getting a new black suede headliner treatment at the moment). F-Type pictures below.

Went with black and the graphite blade wheels, pretty much every option except the spare tire (which I may regret). I owned two e-types and this captures the spirit but really is the most amazing car I've ever driven. (put a picture of my old 1968 roadster below as well). Enjoy, think I'm sleeping in the garage tonight and, for once, it's a good thing.

FANTASTIC. Congratulations...your new F looks absolutely gorgeous. Glad to hear it's also a blast to drive. And Club Sportiva sounds like a real kick!

How in the world does car & liability insurance work for that Club Sportiva deal????

I wouldn't trust anyone else driving my vehicles regardless of the insurance situation....

The F-type is really nice. I looked them over at the dealer's a few weeks back and they are truly awesome in person. Much better than the pictures IMHO.

Can't wait to see the coupe.

Congrats & enjoy!

Like a rental car they have blanket insurance and the renter has to have a minimum coverage which they verify. There was one driver who drove a brand new Panamerica off a cliff (fortunately that is rare) they got enough to replace the car. But trust me this was a hard one for me as well. Still I get a wide choice of exotics I can use for meetings and work including a Bentley and Rolls Royce so we'll see hot it all works out.

Default Almost done

Intake is sorted, a lot of 3.5" hose and I have cold air again. Also the headliner has been done in black suede. Looks great hard to get a good picture of it. Oh and if you have anyone do your headliner be aware there are two wires above the sun shades, if they get shorted (it is really easy to do) it will cause the body control module to fail, the car will stick in park, the trunk won't open, the interior lights won't work, and the windshield washer won't work. The "stuck in park" part is a ton of fun. Good news is that if you fix the wires and replace the blown fuse everything comes back. Go figure.

While you're at it, why not add a leaper as well.

Your car just looks mean now. Really like the look. Didn't think I would like the badge on the grill but it sets the car off nicely.

No shots, but the leaper isn't my thing.

I just don't think they look right on such a curvaceous car. I'd say the same about a new XF or XJ too, there just isn't a "correct" place for it to sit on the hood. The older sedans with the more square nose, now that's different.

Everything else, spot on and sinister.

Guilty as charged. In my defense, I don't like chrome leapers except on cars they came on. At least in black they look a bit better. I've actually had people even at the dealership say they don't like them on the new cars but with my black pack, it works!

Default Pictures of both my babies together

Here they are in all their glory, too hot to put the tops down. Just hit me I should take shots of them both topless too.

The F-Type looks fantastic, but what really amazes me is just how good the XK looks compared to a design that is 17 years newer.

I don't think I can find any car designed in 1996 that looks as modern today.

+1 on the size comparison. Side by side it truly shows how low and svelte the XK8/R really is.
