Default 2nd Generation tensioners on an early 4.2?

I have seen a report on another forum saying that early 4.2 engines had plastic second generation tensioners. Does anyone know if this is true or false.

As my car is only 600 into the 4.2 vin numbers it would be good to know.

Never heard that before.

Very late 4.0 engines had the metal tensioners from the factory which makes it unlikely that any 4.2 ever had the plastic ones.

I found this picture from when I was changing the cam cover gasket, I presume this is a 3rd generation version.
