Default Recommended Brake Pads?

Hi,

I am going to change the front brakes on my 2005 XK8 soon. Which brands do you guys recommend for replacements? I'm pretty easy on the car when driving and pads that minimize brake dust would be nice as well. Thanks for any suggestions.

I have read that avos recommends Hawk ceramic pads for both their excellent performance and low dust factor...and I trust his judgement implicitly.

I just put a set of Borbet wheels on one of my XJ8's, and the factory pads bury the shine in about a day. I'll throw my two cent's worth in when I get the Hawks on the car, but I expect to be pleased at the improvements.

Correction...Uh oh, I found Hawks for XKR but not XJ/XK8. Looks like Akebono ceramic will be the next best choice, unless there are listings not found in my cursory search.

Performance Friction makes a very high quality pad as well as Disc Italia. Those are the only two high compression molded pads I know of for the street. This means more material per pad and longer and consistent wear.

I just had mine done. Not sure the brand my shop used on the front but they put down like no dust on the rims at all.

Thanks to all for the responses. I ordered the Akebono's and will put them on this weekend.

Good choice, my akebono ceramics work great. Quiet and you know what, it stops the car.
