If the top latch doesn't drop out of the way with the top down, then they are reversed.

This should help!

Link JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource

Check your connections and see what problems you might have then.

I think there is a schematic on Gus's website but if not the lift cylinder bottom hoses go to the top fittings on the pump and the top ones to the lower fittings.

How is your fluid level?...it may get too low as air is displaced. Is the petcock fully clockwise?

Manually override the pump (petcock counter-clockwise), latch the top, put it back to automatic (petcock clockwise) and try again.

Got it working. I had the wires crossed on the right cylinder. now everything is out of sink. top goes down when you hit the up button and front latch is not working right. back window still not working . How do I get everything back in-sink?

It sounds more like something is crossed now.

In any event, to reset follow the instructions I gave above "Manually override the pump (petcock counter-clockwise), latch the top, put it back to automatic (petcock clockwise) and try again."

When I did my cylinder hoses it took 5 or 6 attempts to purge the air from the system - it would get half way up then collapse down again due to air pockets but I made sure to keep cycling the system up until it latched correctly - perhaps if you have pressed the down button the system is confused and out of sync. Try a hard reset then raising the roof again - also, as stated, make sure the fluid level stays within limits.

Double check your hydraulic connections against the attached diagram.

If you have been working without the engine running, your battery may be getting low, this can also cause a stall.

It could be that your top is confused! Open the petcock open the roof manually check that the rear windows are open and that the lock is stowed then close the petcock, check the fluid level and do a hard reset. At this time close the roof electrically and hold the button until it is completed. The roof may run slowly and it may take time to operate because of air presented to the system. I should mention that this system will self purge.

The rear windows will only close when the rams are fully extended and the front latch is closed! Did you disconnect the leads to the switches on the right rear ram when you changed the hoses? Check and see if they are still connected you have one on the top and another at the bottom.

Thanks...I did replace the connections on the rams. Haybe the switch on the ram is bad. they did go up once with the top switch. When I press the up button the top goes down (sometimes) When you say a HARD reset do you mean removing the battery cables and touching them together? Is it possible that the hoses are crossed. I have them on according to the diagram maybe my pump is different. will it damage anything if I switch them?

Mystery solved. Had the hoses from the rams on the wrong fittings at the pump. Top hose from the rams goes to the top fittings on the pump. Thanks to Gus for all his help. Now on to the airbag light (its on) Perfect ragtop day
