Default Rear bumper parking sensor - how to remove?

I received my new rear parking sensor this morning, but I can't work out how to remove the old one. It pulls out fine about 1", but then gets stuck. The problem is that I'm doing everything by touch, as the main cross member prevents me from seeing what's in there. I looked for a how-to, but couldn't find one.

Any ideas?

They are on a bayonet style fitting, hold the outer housing push the sensor out on its spring and twist ANTICLOCKWISE then pull back, dont twist clockwise you will break the tabs off.....

Just to add to Tony's reply, you in fact have to split the sensor into its two component parts while it's in the bumper to release it: push the whole assembly about 1" out of the bumper from inside (it's spring loaded), grip the outer tube with one hand and the sensor inside the bumper with the other hand and turn the outer tube anticlockwise through about 45°. Mine was quite stiff and I had to put a pair of rubber gloves on to get enough purchase, but it can be done with a little persuasion.

The whole assembly then comes apart, allowing you to pull the outer tube away from the back of the car and pull the sensor inside the bumper. Then you just need to get under the bumper and unplug the connector to free the sensor.
