Default Does the XK8 has a PCV VALVE?

I have a 1997 XK8 and was looking for the Positive Crankcase Ventilation valve, or PCV valve. I see a hose on the air intake side but no pcv. On the other side (driver 's side) there is a small hose. I did not take it apart yet to see. I looked into the part list and did not see one. Attached is a page from the part list. I didn't find a PCV

Difficult to locate because there is not one. Just small vent orifice in the left side part load breather, open to the valve cover on the breather tube on the right. Are you chasing a problem or just looking around? The part load breather can and does get clogged up and needs cleaning.

Thanks for the reply. I have three 97 xk8 and see that one shows a little more smoke when you take the oil cap off while the car is running. So I was thinking clogged or bad PCV. It's not alot of smoke but you can see that the other are not having it. I hope that is not the start of a ring going bad, the car has 88,200 miles. What do you think?

Clean the part load breather orifice with a 3/32" drill bit held in a pair of vice grips. The crud in there is hard and a piece of wire usually will not do it. The orifice is down about 3/4" below the top of the connector stud. Careful removing the hose . . . I broke mine first time . . . old, baked plastic. Do you have more oil in the right hand breather tube compared to the other cars? Beyond that you probably need to do a compression test to verify the situation.

On cleaning the part load breather:

I changed from using a drill bit to using an allen wrench of the same size. This because -- no matter how hard I tried -- I could not find a way to drop the allen wrench down into the cam cover. The drill bit, given enough attempts, I would for sure find a way.

There is an oil splash guard under the breather orifice to prevent the drill bit from falling into the valve cover.

I see. Didn't notice that when I was in there doing the secondaries.

Still, if there is any conceivable way to drop something through that hole, I am an expert at finding such things.

Thanks for the great information. Motorcarman had the exact PDF file I was looking for. I am on call this week but will get to it as soon as I can. And for the oil in the tube, it is clean. Thank goodness.
