That's what I did and that's the result I got. What now?

As Gus suggested swap driver + passenger door modules to see if the fault changes side.

Not exactly intuitive to get to or remove! Here's the JTIS procedure:

JTIS - XK8 Drivers Door Module.pdf

You'll have to reset window travel limits after the battery disconnect.

I think Norri was quite reasonably pointing out that, faced with a problem like this, you need to download JTIS (3rd time of suggesting it).

It turned out to be the door module. If I would have tested the original switch before ordering the new one I would have saved a lot of time and effort. Thank you to Steve, Gus, GGG and all the forum members for their time and efforts, without which I probably wouldn't even have bought a Jaguar for fear of maintenance costs.

Glad you fixed it.
I think I speak for many here when I say this Forum is the reason we can own a Jaguar.

It sounds like the microswitches in my passenger door latch have a problem, since I am having the window problems and the fact that the car does not recognize that the door is open. I want to try the WD40 fix before operating on the door to remove the latch. Do you just blind shoot WD40 in and around what you can see from the end of the door or is there some particular place to lubricate? Thanks! David

You want to lubricate it not soak it with the WD40. Spray into the nooks and crannies and any mechanical linkage and then exercise the door latch by opening and closing the door.

Dave,
Do you have a part number for the Omron door switch? Will the same switch work for driver door as well as the passenger door?

You need to read the entire post you will see the part number posted along with other options.

I fixed my door open light by doing the old computer hard reset. I ordered an Omron switch and a lock assembly from ebay. The parts still have not arrived but the problem is gone. I have an xj8, but found a few xk8 threads that helped. Not sure if the reset will fix XK8, but I think both cars are similar in wiring logic.

Not quite sure if this the right thread, but have searched through many. The driver's door window is stuck in the open position. I can hear a feint clicking when trying to close the window. Passenger side window works perfectly as does the soft top on 2005 XK8 convertible. Is it a reset problem or should I remove the door panel and investigate further?

You likely would get more answers if you started a new thread with your issue. However from your description I'd pull the door card and have a look.

Hello everyone!

I'm new here so please forgive me if this has already been covered, but my 97 XK8 convertible has developed an issue where the driver's window rolls all the way down when the door is opened. The Jag service guy said it needed a door module (LJE2120AB00) which is VIN specific. The car sits a lot so I thought it might be a bad battery core and sure enough, when I put a new battery in a few weeks ago the problem went away and I thought it was resolved. But yesterday I put the finishing touches on the car thinking I finally had it perfect and when I opened the door to get out the window goes down again.

Any insight would be super appreciated!
