Front wheel bearing replacement - Jaguar specialist job?
#21
You will need a minimum of 3 tons to properly seat the bearing, as per the service manual.
In your shoes I would buy a 10 ton, you never know what else might need pressing and its nice to have one that will last when you're buying new.

You do need special tools (ABS ring/nut socket) which your average shop probably will not have and make sure when you get the bearings, get a kit, you will also need to replace the circlips, you also get a grease spreader (plastic ring) that goes between the hub and bearing, these all come in the kit and not with just the bearings.
Sorry to revive an old thread.
I was looking online and I can't seem to find a kit for the front wheel bearings that includes this plastic ring you are talking about. They all come with just a bearing, however the rear kits with seals are easy to find.
If it's not too much of a bother would you mind elaborating?
If I have to I will order overseas to get the correct wheel bearing kit.
I would hate to reassemble with just a new bearing and then have to tear it all down again haha

Wheel Bearing Tools in SOMD
Not too sure about the plastic ring you mention, unless its some kind of grease spitter I've seen in some diagrams.
I am collecting all the components and tools I'll need to make the change myself in about a week. Afterwards I'm hoping to try and recoup some of the expense by either renting or selling the items outright. So anyone in Southern Maryland who's interested - let me know.
Wish me luck!
