O ring on VVT Solenoid?

O ring on VVT Solenoid?
I have a year 2000 XK8 Convertible Normally Aspirated 4.0 liter left hand drive car. Vin ends in C5YNA05844. 108,000 miles. I have almost completed some maintenance that involved having the heads off and replacing chains and chain tensioners. When I last ran it, aside from a cautionary rattle on cold start and a little head gasket issue the motor had good power, gas mileage, acceleration.
Now as I put it back together, a question. I have looked for this answer many places, not finding an answer.
Where the VVT Solenoid is bolted to the VVT bushing carrier, the body of the solenoid has what looks like a place for an o ring, up near the shoulder where this unit rests on the carrier. Is there supposed to be an o ring there? If there is where can I obtain a couple?
I am not referring to the gasket where the solenoid pokes out of the cam cover. That rubber gasket is present.
I took this solenoid apart from the bushing carrier, and found it did not have an o ring (either bank) nor did it have a wear or discoloration pattern to suggest there might have been one in some past time. The bolted down positioning leaves a little gap so the shoulder is not actually flush to the carrier. The part fits pretty snugly, so it occurs to me that an o ring may not be needed? Can't find a parts diagram detailing this area. Have seen this part on ebay, without an o ring.
